anyone else run a OMC V4 90*...
I appreciate you taking the time to give me some in site on an outboard that I never had before. I still may have some continuing questions as issues may pop up.

anyone else run a OMC V4 90*...
I have a 1988 Procraft 1660 with a 1987 Johnson 110 V4 hung on the back that I purchased last September 2018 and have been working on the outboard since when time allowed. I know the boat and outboard was taken care, however I was doing some preventative maintenance and some much needed rewiring ect. I'm going to take her out for my first lake test since purchase this coming Saturday. I was wondering who else is running a OMC V4 90* and what can I expect performance wise out of this 110. thanks!

Why Are Boat Motors So Expensive?
Well, IMHO-- I think it's a Luxury item...so prices are higher...and it's complicated to get a boat loan because of it being a Luxury item...lender know that at some point when financial times get tough and you have a loan on a boat..they know mostly likely the boat will be repossessed vs being sold

Johnson 175 idles a little rough
Well, if it were me (I have been in your shoes with an outboard chasing gremlins around many times) I would start with a compression test, then do a compression leak down test and see what you have with the internals of the engine-- your findings will lead you in the direction you need to go to trouble shoot your issue. If the internals are healthy I would go to the ignition system and test everything per specs-- use a true shop manual that will go into great detail on every section of the outboard, however they are a bit vague about getting out v4 thermostat housing and install ect other than pulling the power head....I'm no professional mechanic and don't claim to be either. I have built many hot rods over the years and that knowledge help me when I work on my outboards

B. O. A. T. (Bring out another thousand - boat owners support thread)
well, I though I would weigh in on this Bring Out Another Thousand...thread i have had many types of boats over the years and had to always buy used and they all needed some kind of work which I do enjoy doing. I don't enjoy the high prices of replacement parts when I need some...so for me I either buy the parts, repair it and keep enjoying the boat or I sell them ASIS then I'm happy and think i'm not going to buy another...but somehow I seem to get another after another and of course they all need work of some sort...then I'm happy I have another boat again...call me crazy.

I can't compete with 99% of the Awesome boats posted in this thread, however I'm proud of my original 1987 Procraft 1660. I purchased from a friend who took great care of it.
