Looking for suggestions for a replacement dropshot rod to replace my 7 foot 2 inch Shimano Cumara that I broke awhile back. It was Medium action with Extra Fast tip. The red one with very little reel seat. It was the perfect dropshot rod for me. Shimano replaced with a 7 foot Expride. It is a great rod and I am using it to dropshot currently but it is not perfect for that technique. The qualities I am looking for are 7ft 2in length or very close, the extremely light tip 6-8 inches like the Cumara had. A bare minimum reel seat. The closest rod as far as specs I have found is the PHENIX M1 7FT 2IN spinning rod. I fish Lake Lanier and dropshotting is my primary technique. I love it. I am willing to invest in a rod. The NRX is not out of my price range but they only offer a dropshot specific rod in a 6ft 10in I think. I would prefer to spend less also. Please give me some suggestions. The rod length is important. I don’t think I would be happy with a rod shorter than 7ft 1in or longer than maybe 7ft 4in. Does anyone have any experience with the PHENIX rod I mentioned?
