  1. That’s fishing. In CT we’ve had such little rain that my favorite local stretch of the Quinebaug River is almost unfishable. We need rain badly.
  2. I can’t understand how any fisherman would look down on small mouth. Saturday I caught a 2-2.5 lb small mouth in knee deep water on a light action rod. It was one of the best fishing experiences of my life. To each his own I guess.
  3. I’m a therapist and fishing is also my therapy for all the reasons Fishinbuck mentioned above. What better way to enjoy nature than with the excitement of fishing: I catch a lot of chicks when I fish for smallies locally and I love every one I catch.
  4. I can’t comprehend hatin on smallies. Pound for pound they are up there in regards to fight. Acrobatics are also a plus. My buddy is a fly fisherman and he told me many fly fishermen hate on smallies. Makes no sense. To me, any fish I’m catching is a good fish. But smallies are one of my favorites.
  5. I’ve been killing river smallies with a white grub and weighted jig. Cast and let the flow take it down river and then vary your retrieve. I caught about 15 in the Housy in northern CT on Sunday.
