Extending wires
There is a lot of great info in this thread. Thank you for all who posted. I think what I am going to do for now is wire the trolling motor directly to the cables from the battery since it has 5ft leads. I want to see how hot the cables get since 6 gauge is technically too small for a 20ft length (24v 80lb).

Extending wires
Yeah I agree square bits work best. I've already had that off to install the new trolling motor plug. As for securing the cables.. I have 1" plastic wire loom tubing that the cables are going into and you can jam it under the ledge. It's tight enough that it's not going anywhere. I have 2 grommets on mine where the red circles are. They lead to under the decking.

Extending wires
Yes I am running heavier gauge wire for a new trolling motor. I originally planned on going through the existing harness but they really secured that. My current path is up through the motor battery cable grommet, then up the port gunwale to the grommet up front. I really don't want to drill into every compartment.

Extending wires
Lots of I got here. As for it getting wet, I planned on putting it under here. So chances of it getting directly wet are very low. I would rather not rely just on soldering. I have heard pros and cons to both. Unfortunately extending the trolling motor wires isn't an option because I have a plug up front. https://www.wholesalemarine.com/ancor-6-gauge-marine-tinned-copper-heavy-duty-butt-connectors/ Would this be sufficient? The trolling motor is 24v uses a 60amp fuse. This would be a heck of a lot cheaper than the Anderson connectors.

Extending wires
I need to extend the power wires to my trolling motor by a few feet. The setup is all new wire but I had to route it a different way causing me to be short. What's the most appropriate way? Unfortunately the extension has to be on the top deck somewhere. I was leaning towards an Anderson SB connector.

Garmin/hummingbird compatibility
I'm not used to the Garmin. It came with the boat and I'm more familiar with hummingbird units. Plus the Garmin trolling motors are a lot more than I'm willing to spend

Battery help needed if possible....I'm clueless
I'd go lithium 12v, 50-100ah, group size 24, 22, or mini. They're smaller and weighs a lot less. https://ipowerqueen.com/collections/12-series Lots of options.

Garmin/hummingbird compatibility
I think I'm just going to get the dual spectrum chirp unit since I'm not going to need any advanced features on the front of the boat. Thanks for all the help. If it doesn't work well with the Garmin, I'll either just attach the Garmin transducer to the bottom of the TM or just buy a hummingbird unit.

Garmin/hummingbird compatibility
Can't seem to find the answer here anywhere. I have a Garmin striker fishfinder mounted at the bow and I want to get a Minn Kota Terrova. I can get the model with either the dual chirp or mega imaging. I know the mega imaging will not work with the Garmin. The Garmin will work with the dual chirp using an adapter though. However, I'd like to get the mega imaging and possibly upgrade the Garmin to a hummingbird in the future. Will the Garmin still work with it or are the cables, etc different? Garmin can't answer it and I'm waiting for Minn Kota to get back to me.

Tracker with 3-4 people
Unfortunately I can't afford a new one so I don't have any factory options. I already planned on upgrading the trolling motor to 24v but it has to be a spot lock foot pedal unit. I don't like using the remote. That pretty much points to a $2200 terrova. The 170 I'm debating is about $2000 less than the 175.

Well you were right with the state but not because of the 20hp. I'm buying used and a few I'm interested in are 20hp. I'd rather upgrade the trolling motor to a spot lock unit honestly

Tracker with 3-4 people
How in the hell did you figure out the PA thing? Haha. I would have 2 fisherman on the boat max. The 3rd would be soaking up the sun. 10mph does seem dog slow but it's probably not worth the trouble of upgrading for how infrequently that will occur

Tracker with 3-4 people
Yeah I thought about that too. Not really concerned with it because it's just going to be me most of the time and 3 people a few times a year. I'm mainly concerned about stability and the draft. Thanks!

Tracker with 3-4 people
I'm looking at a pro 170 or pro team 175 with a 20hp motor. The people capacity is 555lbs and I am curious how would the boat handle with 3 adults close to that weight limit? It would be on smaller lakes and headwaters etc. Thanks!
