  1. I really like the new Techna line so far but the only one of the three I have for Bass Fishing is the 6'8" medium fast action casting rod matched up with a Daiwa Tatula for Smallmouth. It's a great all around rod. My others are specialized. I have the 5'8" ultralight spinning rod for trout and it has probably the nicest action for all around trout fishing of any ultralight I have ever used and I have some high end Loomis rods to compare to. The other casting rod I have I just started using for Musky and its a great rod. It's the 8' Heavy fast action 20-50 lb test that I got on one of those killer Amazon deals.

  3. My favorite spinning reel for bass that I consider strong is my new Stradic FL 3000. I only went with the 3000 over the 2500 that has the same body size because the 3000 has cross carbon fiber drag washers. My favorite reel for strength under $100 is the Daiwa 2500 Black Gold. Metal frame, larger drive gear, just a very durable reel that I can land larger fish on. The BG is slightly heavier than the Fuego but is rock solid and I fish with it all day and never even notice the extra 1-2 oz. I also have some Pflueger Supreme XTs that I really like with Mag frames but they are in between the BG and Stradic in cost. There are so many good ones out there these days and the competition is a good thing. Even reels like the Kastking Speed Demon Pro are really pretty nice at their price points as competition and technology continue to drive improvements. Can't comment on the Nasci since the only Shimano's I have are Stradics, but it sounds like a great reel for the price.
