Some people may not see the damiki hydra as a tube but rather just some sort of creature bait, but in my eyes it is totally a tube. I think the Damiki Hydra is the best tube out there, the way the appendages move is unlike anyother bait. When this bait really shines is when your bed fishing. Most tubes are too long and the bass just picks up the end and drops it off the bed. The Damiki Hydra is shorter and entices them twice as well.
It seems like unless the water is gin clear, which it that case I probably wouldn't even be throwing an a-rig, they don't seem to mind the braid at all. I've always thrown my a-rigs on braid and I don't think I would have different results with floro from what I've heard from other guys. Plus I just like having the peace of mind of knowing 80lb braid won't break when I'm throwing some $40 rigs.
