Grew up in a small town in Illinois, fishing farm ponds, lakes, creeks and rivers for anything and everything that would bite.

Few things are as satisfying as catching, hunting and growing your own food.

Don't hunt anymore, but still love to fish and garden. Recently got into kayak fishing for bass and crappie, but also enjoy kicking back in a lawn chair with a cooler of brews, bank fishing for catfish. Looking for small bodies of water with good fishing, both public and private w/permission.

Hello all, Just relocated to Manhattan after 57 years in central Illinois. Have been fishing my entire life, for pretty much everything from Largemouth bass to Channel Cats. Not really into catch and release, as I much prefer a good fish fry. Just recently got into kayak fishing and am looking for productive, smaller bodies of water, where I can catch my limit and not have to paddle for miles. Any suggestions for a newbie to Manhattan?
