  1. it's a bottom fishing rig. no reason to have hooks on the bottom when the fish can't get to them. i'm sure the hook placement on the cheek was chosen because of fish behavior that he observed
  2. in the pictures shown a guy from japan has mounted a frog hook on the cheek of a deps 250. can anyone maybe explain how he could have done this and how i might be able to do it as well? https://ibb.co/DbRq3PV https://ibb.co/h8hYpbr
  3. just to correct my last post, i meant heavy flouro would be better for abrasion resistance, not mono. and yes, i am bass fishing, but i’m fishing for trophies so i get the occasional pike. i’ll take a look at these clips, and maybe switch them out on some leaders, but i’m leaning more towards just switching over to a heavy flouro mainline.
  4. I was using 80 pound crimped flouro leaders that I bought off ebay and from local shops. It wasn’t the flouro that was failing but rather the actual hardware (i.e. snaps and crimps). I know that heavy mono would be more ideal for abrasion resistance, but I have my tranx spooled up with 30lb CXX already. I’m also fishing big glidebaits and I feel like using a leader effects the action a little bit.
  5. Lately I’ve found that I can no longer trust the hardware on my flouro leaders. I need to know if I can straightline (no leader) 30lb CXX, and how abrasion resistant it will be to pike. Thanks
  6. do you think if i used frog books i would have to position the hooks the same way you have on yours (front hook facing wordward, back hook facing backward)? or are there different positions for different techniques?
  7. Has anyone tried using the double frog hook style hooks on hardbaits? Someone recommended using them for the glidebaits that I use, and I was wondering how effective they are/pros and cons to regular treble hooks or decoy quads
  8. I just bought a Megabass iSlide 262, and on the first cast got piked. Apparently the bait is not too durable because the teeth went right through. I’m not sure what the iSlide is made out of but is there any way I can repair it?
  9. That’s just how it goes when swimbait fishing. This time of year females are looking for strong males to mate, and eating a swimbait sized meal will force the male to stop defending the bed as they will have to metabolize, which the female will see as a weakness. Because of this, a lot of times they will jab at the tail of other fish in the area to warn them to stay away instead of fully eating, which might be what you’re feeling as bites on the hudd. A fix might be to add a trailer hook, but putting more time in could be the answer as well. edit: try a glidebait, if anything you might foulhook one
  10. i’m looking to upgrade my spool on my shimano mg dc7 in order to hold more line. is this a good idea or will it effect the dc brakes? and where would i be able to find an upgrade?
