Howdy ya'll,
I've got a new fishing rig that I've set up and I'm wondering if I've screwed up by matching a reel to the wrong rod.
Falcon Bucoo SR Casting Rod
+
Pflueger President Spincast Reel (8lb. Trilene XT)
I'm specifically worried because it seems like my fishing line is taking a pretty steep angle down to the first guide. I think The Bucoo SR is considered part of Falcon's 'low-rider' rods where the guides are micro and particularly close to the blank.
I seem to be getting some significant line abrasion right at the nose cone of the reel when casting and I was wondering if, when under load, the line is scraping too hard against the nose cone BECAUSE it's at such a seemingly steep angle.
Can anybody tell me if the line is supposed to come out of the reel at such a significant angle? Should I get a different rod for this reel? Anybody have a suggestion for a better rod around $100?
