  1. https://ibb.co/MpRCgKw Caught this lil fella (or shella) at Beaver Lake at Shelby Farms yesterday. Got some other good nibbles as well, it seems to have a pretty decent population and is the second time I've been. Took around an hour, was fishing two rods, one with bobber and worm since I was in a small cove I had seen a lot of activity at the previous time I was there. The other was the crank bait you see(this is my lucky one), got nothing with the worm and bobber. It's pretty overgrown once you start around the left side, and gets overgrown about a quarter way around on the right side aka not a lot of lazy fishermen aka better spot to fish. Caught a little fish with the crank bait at Hyde Lake as well on Monday. I was checking out a lake northwards in Bartlett that was pretty sizable, start pulling towards the end of the turdball road and realize I've been there before and I'm friends with the guy who owns it, he's a fellow musician. He tells me what bait to use and some good spots, so hopefully I'll have a good report out of there soon, he said some monsters have been pulled from it. I only had a few nibbles there today, there are tons of turtles which isn't the best omen but better than the snakes I usually tangle with and it's deserted enough to bring the dog since he's a maniac and won't leave anything that moves alone.
  2. Caught five at a residential lake in Bartlett a friend recommended; her pa lives out there so we had people to vouch for us as guests otherwise I'd recommend more people to go out there. Gonna check out some lakes/ponds along Humphreys blvd today as well as hit up the more remote smaller lakes in Shelby Farms. I was getting nibbles out of Pine Lake but the fish seemed really small. Some spots I've checked out, hopefully it's not gone over 1000 times but I figure people want updates on spots nonetheless: 1. Herb Parsons We all know about this, we've all fished it, and it's booming again which is bad news for us in terms of nibbles. Way too many folks and honestly a bit dodgy in the time of Covid imo, still a fun place to hang and it's clean but not much in the way of fish unless you're really skilled 2. Neshoba Once again a common spot mentioned here. I saw a TON of fish in the water, but they weren't biting. This was about two weeks ago. Saw a decent sized gar near the shore, but I couldn't even get nibbles here. 3. Davies Plantation I actually had a lot of luck here, just nothing of size. I figure I'll keep popping back over the coming months. There are supposed to be catfish, but all I caught were bream and small bass. I've fished there at night as well but luck wasn't any better in regards to catfish, HOWEVER I did see some near the rocky side in the shallows, so they are definitely in there. There's also a spot behind the area where I work around Nonconnah creek. There are too many sandbars to take any kind of motorized boat, and there is an intense amount of foliage but I've had luck in that area. Goes without saying you wouldn't want to keep anything out of here even if you wanted to.
  3. New to the forum. Been fishing for about a month; hadn't been fishing since I was 11 or so, and we had a company lake day at a private lake owned by a customer who let us use it(carpenters). I got caught in the trees twice on the first two casts and got laughed at a lot... and then ended up catching more fish than anyone combined, all bream and bass though we threw the bass back. 20$ rod, and now I've been hooked. Sunk about 100$ into it so far which is a decent chunk for me I've found a few good places to catch, but never anything bigger than a pound outside of that private lake aside from this gar I got at a lil creek. Would be great to get some tips considering I know so little about the craft next time someone heads out. As said, fishing is a great social distancing activity and it gives me a good excuse to hike as well. The best places are always where other people don't want to/too lazy to get to I've found hehe, and thankfully I figured out I'm pretty resistant to poison ivy. All CnR so far but not against taking fish either, just wouldn't want to eat out of my best spot as its a waterway connected to a drainage ditch. I'll start posting my local trips on here as well, hope to see some folks out there and pick up some learnin.
