  1. I recently got some fluorocarbon leader line to put on my braid. I’ll be using this line setup on my MHF baitcasting combo, and i’ll be fishing a wide array of techniques. How long should I have the leader? And how often do you need to replace it with a new leader? I’ll be retying lures with this combo frequently (one of my 2 combos, I use this one the most).
  2. My questions is: should I use ringed hooks, or get ringed and original hooks? Will it get hung up more? Will it increase the action? Right now, I only have EWG ringed hooks. I’ll be fishing with flukes, craws, and senkos. Is it worth it to get normal hooks or is it fine to use e ringed ones I have now?
  3. I’m a newer fisherman, and want to try out flukes, as i’ve heard good about them. What color do you recommend me to get? I will get 2 colors at the most. I live in central MN, and the water clarity is a 5-6 out of 10 (10 being the dirtiest). I’m my lake. there are no shad, and I think the main forage is bluegill and small bass.
  4. I’m wondering why you would need a leader with braid. If you don’t want fish to see your line, why not just use your leader line as your main line? I’m a new fisherman, i’m sure there are good reasons that I haven’t heard yet.
  5. What if i’m fishing with soft plastics, would you still run straight braid? And right now, I have 20lb braid with 12lb Hybrid leader. Would you think that work, or should I just use the braid without a leader? Or should I use a spare pack of 12lb mono that is lower quality(i think it’s just a berkley trilene smooth casting)? Or what about using the pack of hybrid line I’m using for a leader right now and just use that for my main line? Basically, should I use my lower quality 12lb mono, get new, higher quality mono, stay with what i’m using now, use straight braid, or just use 12lb hybrid as my maim line?
  6. I have a MF spinning combo with about 4” broken off the tip, and a MH BC combo in good condition. I am wondering if it is ok for me to use my spinning combo for all soft plastics and my BC combo for everything else. If not, I’ll gladly take any suggestions. The reason I want to do this is because I really struggle retying lures without taking forever, so I only tie directly to the hook on soft plastics and I use a snap swivel on my BC for everything else.
  7. On my lake, the water clarity is i think around a 5-6 out of 10 (10 being the murkiest). The lake has a few lay downs/wood cover and there is a good amount of thick and med vegetation for the most part.
  8. I think it is sufix 832. The tactics i’ll be using are as much as I possibly can, as it is the only combo i’ll be using. The species I’ll be fishing for are bass and pike. I just got 12# YZ hybrid, but I haven’t tied it on yet. I’m thinking of the FG knot or the double uni. That’s just what i’ve heard that’s good. I have not used braid on a spinning setup, only mono. Any help would be good, i’m pretty new at all this!
  9. I want to know what would be an ideal line choice to cover pretty much all techniques. I’ll be fishing for bass and pike, right now I am running 20# braid with 12# Y-Z hybrid leader. Is what I have fine? Or what would you guys use? Also what knot should I use to connect a line leader if I should use one? My combo is the SilverMax baitcaster MH.
  10. They put a tip top on it. That’s funny because a while before I was going to get the same rod as you! Also... I really don’t know if my parents would allow me to get a new rod because I recently got the baitcaster. If I am unable to get a new rod, would you still recommend using my broken one?
  11. I just now remembered that my spinning rod has a good 5 inches off the end of it because it broke off a while back. Do you guys think it is still worth it to use the spinning combo, or just use the BC for everything?
  12. I just remembered that the spinning rod’s tip broke off so now there is a good 5 inches off. We took it to a store and they welded a guide to the end. Is is still worth it to use it, or should I just stick to the BC?
  13. I just got a new MHF BC combo. I have 20lb braid on it. I’ll be using this combo for most of my fishing. I heard that you should get a fluorocarbon leader when using braid, so what type would you recommend? Thanks
  14. I have a spare pack of 6lb mono, do you think that would work on my spinning combo?
