Just picked up a new stradic fl 3000 xg 6.4:1. Was originally planning the 2500. But after comparing the specs they both weighed 7.9oz. The retrieve of the 2500 was 6.0:1 which is a trival difference of 2" per rev less at 35" vs 37". The 3000 comes with the upgraded cross carbon drag. The 3k has a slightly longer spool for better cast distance and 25% more line capacity 10lb braided 150 vs 200 yds over the 2500. Those are fairly substantial upgrades for the same weight.
Will be pairing it to a St Croix Avid 6'8" MXF rod which makes a great multiuser rod.
Can't weight to fish it. Honestly it has so much in common with the Stella I can not think there is a better freshwater reel under $400. For salt spinner and larger reel I would take the Saragossa 6k up. Bait caster I love the Daiwa Lexa 400HD and surf Penn Fathom II 15CS with the mag knob swap.
They really made very smart upgrades to the Stradic Fl from the FK. Everything was an improvement in performance and or strength.
