I have worked on sportfishing boats for years, and was a captain more than half of that time in the san diego sportfishing fleet. Yellowfin and Bluefin, yellowtail to barracuda. You name it, I have been in charge of finding it and killing it. Here is my situation, I know how to tie knots and I know my knots are not bad. I am new to fishing tungsten and glass for punching- I have always used lead. Brand new 65lb spectra and I am constantly breaking off and not if I am stuck or pulling on a fish. Sometimes the hook comes off right in my hand.
I am confident the glass and tungsten combo has to be at fault, if not the tungsten on its own. I have never broken off so much tackle in my life. I love to fish tungsten, I will have to find another set up to punch with- losing tungsten is too expensive, and losing fish is worse.
Just my two cents.
