  1. I think you're pretty safe, because I hunted 10 minutes and couldn't find what you're aluding to.
  2. Today I found a Johnny O'Neil Weed Wing, made in USA. There's a good bassresource article about it Swindle Loves A Lure You've Probably Never Heard Of
  3. Over the 6 weeks since my last post I haven't had any good days lure hunting, but yesterday I laid the little guys out together and they've been accumulating.
  4. It's a Golden Boy squarebill from Karl's. I found one just like it last year and it took me a while to identify it. It looks very promising, but I haven't fished it yet.
  5. The popper is a googan squad. The first one of this color I ever found was hooked a foot under water, and the bright green mouth was facing straight up at me. Otherwise I could never have seen it.
  6. I wasn't going to hunt this weekend, but yesterday on a bike ride I got the top left Rapala and I spotted lures at 3 other sites, so today I did an early morning lightning round with my kayak and I got these. My first Frittside(s), I like them a lot. I had to dig out my 24' pole for the Yo Zuri - wow it was up there.
  7. I used to enjoy drinking while fishing and paddling and I always kept a flask in my bag. I would get real mellow and relaxed and it was very pleasant. But, I moved and now I have to drive to lakes, so it's not an option. Fishing and paddling are still a lot of fun.
  8. Victorinox classic or rambler. I use them a million times a day. They are easy to always have in your pocket, and I buy half a dozen at a time from ebay sellers who buy confiscated knives by the pound from the TSA.
  9. I'm really surprised, I was expecting a lot of Megabass and Lucky Craft and other high-zoot brands/manufacturers in these responses. My favorite would be Pradco because I like the sentimental brands like Arbogast and Heddon, plus I've had a lot of favorite lures from Bomber, Bandit and Booyah.
  10. It used to be the only lures I ever saw with that holographic reflector tape was the cheap unbranded baits like on ebay, but now the big players are starting to use it.
  11. Yesterday found my second Buzz Plug ever and a pre-Rapala Wiggle Wart in very good condition
  12. What an awesome couple of finds those classic lures are! The frog is so recognizable that I would keep it the way it is and display it as a testament to the classics and to lure hunting at the same time. Also, you found it on a 3-WP day! Those don't come around often enough in my book.
  13. I love this thread and I've read it through several times. Bluebasser86 is my hero. "Had a good lure finding day today" and he throws up a picture of 33 lures. That's priceless!
  14. It's a Googan Squad Revolver. I find two or three every year. This one is intact, but I have found two with broken off spinners, so that's something to be aware of. They are always a thrill to find because they are big and GS's colors are pretty cool. Here are the GS hardbaits I've found so far this year.
  15. I hit five lakes the weekend before last and I found these. I've been going to more lakes because my favorites are choked up with weeds.
  16. This little guy is way flatter than flat sided cranks because it's still as skinny as a rattle trap. In fact, it's totally just a rattle trap with a lip. They also took out the bigger rattle balls to lighten it up so it can float, so the rattle is weak, and it feels too light to cast well with a baitcaster. I would much rather use a Frittside, but this is really cool to get to check out for free.
  17. Yesterday I found a Cotton Cordell Longbill Spot. Goofy lookin lure There are a couple colors I discount in the water because they are used on Bic lighters, bottle caps, and other trash, but not the backs of lures, and this green is one of them, so I almost passed it by.
  18. Oh wow - I get it now. I found one of those contraptions (after untangling a lot of line). A little while later, I found a family using them, so I gave it to them along with the hooks and bobbers I had come across so far. The family looked like money might be an issue, but the kids were having fun fishing, so I thought it was a clever low cost adaptation. That's until someone drops one in the river and it gets to unwrap.
  19. Do the adjusters on left handed reels have left handed threads? That seems funny at first, but it could make sense so I'm curious, I've never tried a left hand reel.
  20. Jeepers, maybe the rods are spawning! I just saw your post about the owl tangled in the fishing line; saving it helped your karma for sure. Good job on the rescue! A few times lookers-on have thanked me for protecting birds when I was taking down lures and line, but I never thought the birds actually needed it. I had never seen one hung up before!
  21. That's funny we're finding rods right now -- they must be in season. On my lakes the bass fisherman have mostly moved to bigger lakes with less weeds, and the bank fishing spots are occupied by bucket sitters. Since the number of lures are down, I've been focusing more on my bottle collection. You should see my posts on bottleresource. lol
  22. I don't find many classics, but I love it when I do. This weekend I found a 1940's Mercury Minnow, from Grosse Pointe Michigan (per an internet article that came up on a photo search). It contains a real drop of mercury to make it wiggle extra enticingly! I can see the mercury inside the partially clear body, and it's moving around, but the amount is so small I can't feel any wiggle from it. (There's no water inside, so fortunately none of the mercury got out and is sitting at the bottom of the lake.)
  23. I found a complete rod & reel combo in the river today and joined the elites on this thread. It's a Zebco Roam baitcaster combo that was seriously coated with crud, but I fished out both sections and brought it home and cleaned it up, and it moves smoothly but it wouldn't reel in at all. The star drag adjuster was the key - it was very tight up against the stop with no drag. I'm guessing someone didn't know the star was an adjuster because it wouldn't budge, and the other two knobs wouldn't fix the problem, so he/she got super frustrated and cut off the lure and threw the durn thing in the river. It still had a sticker on it! I tied on a found lure without hooks and cast it around the backyard and ran it through the swimming pool. It works great! Of course in the garage the lure tangled with the garage door release handle and I would have lost the lure if I hadn't been able to grab a stool to retrieve it. ?
  24. I also found a classic lure, a Heddon Midgit Digit in really good shape.?
  25. Excitement today - while pulling a tangle out of a bush, I came up with a 10" LMB on a Ned rig! 3rd time now I've found a lure with a fish on it!!
