  4. I’m very new to baitcasters and bass fishing. I got the Lew’s Xfinity SLP speed spool from Walmart about a month ago, and I just got custom black combo with the 7’ medium, moderate fast action rod (Xfinity came with a medium heavy, fast action so I wanted a different one) a couple days ago. To me (a newbie), the custom black is very smooth. Being a rookie, I’ve had a few backlashes, but I’m still working on my technique. I’m using Berkley smooth casting 14#.
  5. Thanks, Glenn. Glad to be here!
  6. Hello everyone. I stopped fishing for about 25 years, other than taking my daughter when she was younger and just baiting her hook and taking her fish off. I recently got back into it. The only fishing I ever did was using worms or crickets and waiting for a bite. As a teen, I caught a lot of catfish and bream. Lately, I’ve been very interested in bass fishing. About a month ago, I got a Lew’s Xfinity speed spool SLP combo, with the 6’10” medium heavy, fast action rod, and started learning to set it up and cast (I have a long way to go). A couple days ago, I got a Lew’s Team Lew’s Custom Black speed spool LFS, with the 7’ medium, moderate fast action rod. I’ve caught a few small bass in private ponds so far. I look forward to learning all I can about bass fishing.
