What do you have your breaks set at for casting normally?

Thats what Ive been saying. Had some buddies who were saying it was a 3 I needed a second opinion lol

How little resistance should be on the spool? I set mine just before the click and it feels like the line comes out with nothing pulling on it.

Me and a buddy are thinking of going out to Anderson this weekend and seeing what it looks like with almost zero water and either lure hunting or fishing lol. Is it still open and are there still fish in the lake?

Next time I'll wait for someone who isn't only going to take one picture and go away lol! I've got a video on my phone of the release and the thing is built like a tank, sucks you cant see it in the picture.

I'll keep that in mind for next time! Yeah its definitely a tough guess I stopped a jogger to help me with a picture and he barely paused lol.

Caught this nice bass when I didn't have a scale and I'm guessing it weighs around 5 pounds, any other opinions? It's hard to see in the picture but the fish was built like a football.

I read about it a bit. Sounds like a high risk high reward type deal might have to see how hard it is to get in lol

As far as I know all the creek trout fishing is atleast a 3 hour drive away. They stocked chabot yesterday with some massive ones but I still managed to get skunked. Still gotta figure out how the trout feed and act in these bigger lakes lol

Thanks! Ill make sure to check out Coyote and Uvas. Almaden is normally packed whenever i go there lol but i went to Guadalupe and there was no one else fishing except me, pretty peaceful.

Went up to lake Chabot yesterday and saw about 100+ people fishing, decided to go to quarry lakes later in the day to maybe escape the crowds and went on a pier covered in powerbait and saw another 20 people or so in one small area. Now Ive decided next time im going fishing Im gonna look at what is least pressured and hardest to access. Does anyone know lakes that you maybe have to hike into or atleast dont have massive parking lots right next to them lol. Im willing to hike to get to the spot if thats what it takes to.

Id try to stay away from Vasona if I were you, lots and lots of fishing pressure without much fish being caught in my experience. Or maybe I just dont know how to fish it lol

When I was 10 or so my family and I went and rented a cabin near a lake and we went fishing every day and night we were there, well after 3 or 4 days of fishing from 3 hours before sunset to an hour or more after and getting no bites on anything, nothing on flies, bait, lures, worms, you name it we tried it. Once we got there it looked amazing and everyone thought there was no way we would get skunked, super deep water, super clear water, plenty of rocks for trout to hide in, strong strong current, everything you need to catch a trout was there. So we get everything set up and fished for about 4 hours with absolutely zero action and my dad starts to talk about doing some other activity to keep the whole family entertained. I decided to try a random lure I saw in our tackle box for a few casts and somehow managed to hook and land a 28.5 inch rainbow trout with 5 minutes before we had to leave. At the time that fish was as long as my leg and Ill never forget that fish.

If i get 2 new reels id have nowhere to put the second one lol, Id rather put the money into something that will last awhile and wont have any issues.

Just about everything, I've only got one baitcasting setup but I have a spinning combo which I use for dropshots and ned rigs ect. Im probably gonna be throwing things from 3/8 oz up.

Can you describe what a low inertia spool is and why its good? Ive never heard about one before.

Im thinking of using it for just about everything except finesse plastics lol. Ive been using an abu garcia blackmax for a few months but thats about it.

What good baitcasting reels are there for 125$ dollars give or take? The 2 main ones Im looking at is the shimano sxl xt and diawa tatula ct but Im open to other suggestions.
