Thanks for your inputs guys. Based on what you two said I will likely buy the Johnny Morris rod but now I am also considering the Dobyns FR 795SB which is rated for 1-5 ounces. I suspect 80% of my swimbait fishing will be with lures under 2 ounces. Given that, would I be happier with a rod rated for 1-2 ounces and just deal with the heavier lures that I will use only on occasion or does the heavier rod make more sense?
Hi everyone, I'm new here and don't have any experience fishing swimbaits for bass. I'm looking for a reasonably priced rod to throw large baits such as the S Waver 168's and possibly larger for bass and stripers. What reviews I can find for the rod are good in general but I was wondering if anyone owns this particular one for swimbaits: JCT79HTF 7'9" Heavy/Fast. It is rated for 1-4 oz baits. I will probably get a Curado 300 for the reel. Thanks for your inputs!
