  1. Is it ok to use a Med Mod Glass to troll? or should I go to Med Heavy Mod glass rod?
  2. UL rods usually tire the fish out to much and when you think the fish is revived you release it and the current is to strong usually and the fish will get pinned and drown or belly up, I've seen happen to many times, so I went to a light 6'4 fast action panfish series rod from st criox 1pcs and haven't seen it happen yet. Now with that being said st criox has upgraded there rods and made the rods stronger in the back end so could now probably go to there new Ul rods trout or pan fish, I like the panfish a little better.
  3. Handle isn't carbon, you can't beet the 25lbs of max drag, most reels don't even come close to that. Same features except the jeweled pin and the handle I think. I use the smoke s3 8.1:1 for flippn, pitching and froggn.
  4. Perfect on mine, most solid or durables reals I've ever used, you can use for just about any dish even salt water.
  5. I use a st criox 6'4" light power, fast action panfish series 4lbs floro or mono suffix advance. Good for tight stram areas and good for long open cast and very sensitive with a backbone also, great bend to fling under docks or tight areas, over grown trees etc
  6. Yeah, I have two smokes and two tours and the tours are smoother. But I like them both if I would choose it probably be the tour, unless your need an 8.1:1 then you have go with the smoke because they done sell the in the tour model.
  7. Yeah my favorite reals own 2 smokes and 2 tours casting and 3 spinning ?
  8. That's what I kinda thought, I was told different, thanks for your insight.
  9. On the handle of the reel it has a clicker for what size line you have on it so it balances the "weight" to help prevent backlash. It reads, 8, 10, 14, 17, 20, 30, 50, and 65lbs, let's say you put 12lbs line on, do you set the clicker on 10lbs or 14 does 10 cover the weight till 14? It's confusing me.
  10. 17-25lbs florocarbon in tournaments you'll keep more fish on, but on a fun messing around day on a lake or river you can go down to 10lbs it's not going to hurt anything.
  11. So how's the flexibility and sensitivity on the Heavy? Can you tell me a little more about that one
  12. Flush the heck out of it with a lucas reel oil or a Hot sauce, barely use any grease. Make sure your real is tunes right with your brakes and tuner knob and make sure you use the right line and good line. If nothing works buy a quantum pt smoke s3, you'll never have any problems in any situation, good luck.
  13. All uses and set ups, baits, lures lines, reel, cobinations etc. for this rod?
  14. Well if you never look at what size line you use for what the rod recommends I'd imagine you would be doing something along them lines at some point.
  15. So some of you are saying you use a heavy power rod without looking and put 8lbs on and think it's OK, wow alright then.
  16. I think St. Criox is the best, just because I know your not gonna snap the rod on a hook set, if you ever had done it, which I've never heard of it, it would be because your rod was defective.
  17. Just wondering can you use 8lbs power pro slick 8 v2 or even the original, on a rod that is reccomended to 10-17lbs "mono" ? I know the reasons why to stay in the rage the rod reccomends, but with it being braid is it ok?
  18. Your saying you're using crankbaits? use mono for under 12ft of water and the right depth crankbaits for that area your in or get a flippn stick and jig, which would mean most likely you'll to try a casting rod so you have options when your out fishing. Also use 12 lbs or less for mono or florocarbon if you spool your whole spool up with out filling your spool all the way up with braid and a 3 foot leader of floro if you want it to sink or mono to float and suspend you bait.
  19. Sweet thanks, im trying to expand my options of thinking of being versatile and different using techniques, should be good for bass and walleye then.
  20. I bought a 7' Medium fast action st.croix legend extreme casting rod and I paired with a quantum pt tour s3 6.1:1 27" ipt and 10lbs suffix advance flourocarbon. What would you use this set up for and lure selections?
  21. St.criox Legend glass spinning rod, with Quantum PT smoke s3 hands down the best cranking combo ever.
