  1. Alright, who is going to play the role of Santa Claus this year and provide us with the pure fishing 50% off code?
  2. Bait wrx has a few models of the Lews custom pro Ledge rods marked down to $112
  3. My bank account does not appreciate this information. This thread might have me living in a van down by the river in 5-6 months at this rate
  4. The crock-o-gator zapper jig is about the only jig I use now. They were on sale ($2.75 for a 2 pack on midway) and took a chance on them. Was VERY impressed. Come through cover and rock VERY well. Weed guard is a bit stout, but trim it up and it's fine. You will not find a better deal on jigs in my opinion. Some colors/sizes are still on sale.
  5. you sir, are the hero we needed in this forum
  6. Yeah, not ideal. Thought I caught the tail end of a weekend sale, so here we are.
  7. That's what I'm figuring too. I'm a big Lew's guy myself. Was just a little worried when this specific reel was not on the lews site, thought it might be a gimmick. If it holds up half as long as my first-gen super duty, then I consider it a great buy. Thank you for the feedback
  8. Oh my, that sounds kind of ominous.......might return it now
  9. Anyone have any info on the Lew's Hack Attack HD LFS 100 Baitcast Reel that's sold at academy? No reviews out there other than what's on academy. No info on the Lews site either. Got it on sale and curious if it's a good deal.
  10. Sierra trading post has some TFO tactical bass rods (typically $160) marked at $49.99
  11. I ordered one as well. This doesnt get me too excited about my purchase
  12. Not yet.... Got the delayed shipping notice. Went ahead and order 6 awg wire to install. Went back and forth on keeping the stock 8 or upgrading. Finally decided that if i was going to do it, then I'd do it right. Even if I dont keep the TM, I'll probably put the 6 awg in anyway. There is snow on the ground in Ohio and working on the boat sounds a heck of a lot more fun than all the things my wife wants me to do around the house
  13. Big time shallow water guy. Lets just say, I bring a push pole with me to most tourneys (in ohio). Your experience on St. Clair sounds like most of mine on a windy day. That's mostly attributed to the 45lb thrust of my current trolling motor. Excited to see what the 80lb will do with my 165 tracker, might be overkill, but getting it for $700 new (damaged box) is worth the try Yes, I never fish open big water. Cuts & creeks. Which is the concern for the 52". Now, the sales pitch I made to my wife is that this TM can go on my next boat (upgrade hopefully happening in a year or 2). Took a tape measure to the boat to get a rough idea, and I agree, the overhang might be an issue. Trolling motor will be here tomorrow, fingers crossed
  14. Additional question: Do you use 6 gauge or 8 gauge wire. Currently my boat has 8 gauge ran. Minn Kota install page says 8 gauge is fine for the 80lb up to 15 ft. Length from battery to trolling motor is a shade under 15 feet for me. Should I be good with the already installed 8 gauge or should I run new wiring?
  15. Thank you all for the wisdom. Never knew you could cut it down. Ill do that before returning it.
  16. Thank you. So you're saying I need a bigger boat? Great, I'll tell my wife. Yeah, there is going to be a lot I'll have to look at when I get it. I imagine some marginal overhang on each side. I'll update when I get it. I'd hate to return
  17. Hey all, just scored a ridiculous deal on a minn kota Fortex 80 with the 52in shaft. Currently running a 16.5 bass tracker 165 that has a 12v Motorguide x3 with 45 lb thrust and 36in shaft. Bow to waterline is ~13 inches. My fear is the fortex might be too long for my current boat. How much "play" is there in moving it up? I like fishing the skinny stuff, so I'm fearful of the depth. I know not optimal, but is it worth it or will the length cause me more headaches? Will appreciate any wisdom.
  18. Yup, that's what i figured..... Oddly enough, the 757 is lighter (.1 oz) than the 726. How is the tip on your XH? Hoping it's not a broomstick.
  19. Hey all, Looking at a Temple fork outfitter tactical elite 7'4" XH moderate action rod. (747 model to be exact). This is their "structure" rod rated from 1/2-2oz. Curious how the powers are on these rods versus other brands. I have a few older TFO models that are listed as heavys and fish more like medium heavy, curious if this is still the case. If the rod listed above fishes more like a heavy, then I'll be happy. Any incite will help, thank you. Tight lines
  20. Hard baits are 25% off if you purchase 4 or more. This can be combined with the 50% off promo code....... I needed absolutely nothing that i just bought, but uhhhhh here we are
  21. Currently torn between these 2 rods (pro ti being 6'10" and the zodias being the 7' model). Can score either for around the same price. Can't seem to find much info on the lews pro-ti rod. Trouble with ordering things online is I can't get a feel for it before ordering, so hear I am. Plan on using both for reaction style baits. Anyone have good, bad, ugly experiences with either? Thanks in advance for the help.
  22. What is the "bower concept"..... Asking for a friend
  23. This only pertains to ohio but I would consider the following to be on par with a 10lb bass: - 7lb northern bass - 5+ lb river smallmouth - 55+ inch muskie - 180+ inch whitetail - winning a euchre game in 3 hands (loner, loner, sweep) - ohio state not choking in a big game
  24. My wife, uh I mean "my friend's wife" usually catches on quick. Which is why I have a cycle of so called "jedi mind tricks" that I will rotate through. For example, I learned LONNNNNNG ago to never lead with how much was spent, but how much was saved. "honey, you wont believe it. I just got an Abu Garcia premier for 50% off"...... She usually takes that better than "I spent $150 on another fishing reel." Heck, one time I was even met with "you'd be stupid if you didn't buy that."
