This might be a stupid question but what is the NMEA?

Hey yall, Lance here from Texas. I'm 28 and about to get more serious about my bass fishing. I have a procraft combo 200 that I'm wanting to add electronics to for fishing. I'm looking at the Helix 10 inch. Right now there is a sale for the gen 3 version for 1500 and the gen 4 is 2000. Is the gen 4 worth the difference. I want the unit to last as long as possible. Also looking at the solix 10 inch as well. Anyone with experience with these units, advice would be greatly appreciated. Tight lines and happy fishing!
