  1. Ive used both... keys on the GULPS.. - cast about 50 times then replace.... when your done fishing make sure you remove from hook (you dont want the problem after) -plug your nose because they reeeeeeeeeeek something awful ... like a rotten well you get the picture ... Now dont get me wrong i have caught many bass of the gulps but i would choose the power worm over the gulp any day. As for the power worms by Berkley i love them ... im a motor oil guy and just purchased 5 100 ct bags for this fishing season. Im sure ill run out too I prefer the 7'' over the rest but do occasionally use the 10'' worms also. Good luck and Tight Lines SteveL
  2. Newton's Law of Motion , or better yet keplers law of planetary motion ... you know how thats gonna throw your lure off.... EEEEEK HEAD HURTS ............... SteveL
  3. Heh your probably right this just might be the origional swimbait... on another note... I CAUGHT MY FIRST BASS ON THIS THING.... hats off STEVEL
  4. I think i just ticked myself.... this is just funny. So whats the displacement of my lure when i cast about 40 yards towards the bank and retrieve it completely back at a pace of 10 ft a second. lol jk jk jk. Anyway i know what you mean and ive thought like this before. Right concept but im on the pool idea .... fishing is my getaway from college so the less thinking i can do the better... although i do think a lot during tournaments :/... OH YA BE SAFE IN IRAQ BRO GOD BLESS YA SteveL
  5. Rat L Traps work well i use them to pitch into cover let them sink or sit for a moment then crank away. they have different weights for your desire. Good luck SteveL
  6. The plastics i use are -Berkley powerworm Motoroil 7'' -Tiki Stick Worm Sweet potato pie 7'' -FLW finesse purple shad 5'' -many culprit colors red / black shad, fire and ice is also a good one. Im probably one of the few that isnt a senko fan but that is only because they are a bit pricey for my liking lol... im a cheap college student anyway hope this works and helps ... welcome SteveL
  7. On another note ... where will you be fishing ? oh and yes i should of mentioned i dont use anything smaller than a 3/0 or 4/0 hook for my plastics. Ive even been known to use 5/0 on my 10''. Hope this helps SteveL
  8. Hey first of all welcome to the site, and im very happy that your joining in on the adventure to make bass fishing a larger sport than it already is:). Now with that said ... as far as getting a hook set on the texas rig. Don't worry about bedding the hook into the worm. It is better to inbed it so it becomes more weedless than anything. I had this same concern when i first used the T-Rig. Trust me when i say they hook will catch in the bass' mouth. If you notice that your missing a lot right of the beginning then bring it out a bit. You have picked up some basics. ill just list some things i like and somethings you cant go wrong with in the world of bass fishing.... -Rat L Trap -Buzz Bait -Spinner Bait -Crank Baits.... im a Rapala guy myself. Ive also used some Bangos around the 300 series. as for plastics im a powerbait (motoroil color) guy ... i use some finesse worms also... mostly purple shad color. Anyways i hope this helps and once again welcome to the site. SteveL
  9. 32 dollars if you buy it i guarantee he has no more than 15 into his. Great idea and nice job SteveL
  10. Wow.. thats why these suck :-P... thanks again for all the info. My buddy picked these up and well let's just say we are both new to the swimbait thing ... he saw the paddle tail and grabbed them... as for BPS well there site sucks when looking up stuff. When i typed in xps swimbait and did it under the saltwater fishing... that first link is what it gave me. Anyway ill prob just toss these then. Thanks again everyone. Ill prob pick up something that is already pre-rigged. If not ill grab some basstrix. How do you rig those up? thanks SteveL
  11. done a little more searching and this is what it more looks like i suppose ... i know its the other type but this will give you the idea with out the hardware ... http://www.basspro.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?storeId=10151&catalogId=10001&langId=-1&partNumber=29958&hvarTarget=search&cmCat=SearchResults thanks SteveL
  12. ya your right on what steve kennedy used .. ill see if i cant get a picture for ya all. But i believe what my buddy bought was the unrigged xps saltwater series swimbaits. They are def. the same plastic as shown in the above link with out the hardware. Im sure ill come up with something to rig it but ill see what i can do to get you all a pic. And i know BPS sells the already rigged set up of this plastic i was just curious on how i should rig what we had purchased. Thanks again for all the comments and help. SteveL
  13. No bass for me yet either... but let me tell you the jack pickeral's love it....
  14. err the hooks size is 3 and not sure on the weight size pretty close to that picture. thanks again for the help. Once again i was looking to see how kennedy did it in the bassmasters. If i need to rig like basspro has then let me know what i need for the line and lead so i can pick those up. I can get the trebles just not aware of how i would rig this :/ ... Thanks so much SteveL
  15. I guess i should of explained that basspro shows them rigged but the plastic themself has no treble nor the line with the lead on the front in them. I know there is a few ways to rig this. Im looking for ideas as ive torn the crap outta a few of the plastics now. Just imagine the plastic in that picture with out any of the hardware. I also purchased these hooks.... to rig them with. http://www.fishingworld.com/FalconLures/StoreImages/G-LOCK55300_Text_ESTORE.jpg
  16. Ive picked up the XPS swimbait plastics and im haveing a heal of a time trying to rig these up... any help would be very appreciated . here is a link to what i purchased... http://www.basspro.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?storeId=10151&catalogId=10001&langId=-1&partNumber=51912&hvarTarget=search&cmCat=SearchResults i also bought the gamakatsu weighted worm hooks because i saw steve kennedy use this style and hook up in the bassmasters. Thanks again for your help SteveL
  17. It is def. a PURE REACTION STRIKE... But let's change theory and put it like Brian. "It's a small bass boat and the bass are out for revenge" Truely a spit your coffee on the computer there
  18. Burley said it best... They are great for RIVER SMALLMOUTH. I use the yellow on a jig head (ussually yellow also) and use a worm as a trailor. Swim the jig along and let the fish kill it ... SteveL

I use a T-Rig most of the time... just bounce across the bottom. Now for the C-Rig i use this mostly when the weeds are very thick and i want it to stay somewhat above the weeds. Just my personal preferences. Hope this helps. SteveL
  20. The ones i have are a worm but they do resemble a shad. like the other poster says they are very soft and are a finesse worm. They smell great and if i was a bass id hit it
  21. I have been making my own buzzbaits so it varys for colors. I can tune the buzzbait so it squeels ... which i love and the bass seem to love them... and i can make them as quiet as ever... gotta love it. Anyway ill post some pics if anyone wants to see them. SteveL
  22. I for one don't believe if every fisherman keeps a limit of bass they population would go down. I love to eat bass but I also love to catch and release. Im from upstate NY and i fish a lot of rivers where bass come and go... ill keep a limit there along with some northern pike and walleye's. I have recently been doing a lot of fishing while here in NC and i have not kept a fish yet. I have released everything... and i must tell ya im dieing for a good fish feed. SteveL
  23. I went out to the lake yesterday and noticed i forgot most of my plastics at my fishing partners house..... I had a few bags of FLW's i bought from wally world for 50 cents. Took them out and caught about 6 bass on them. We had 3 people in the boat and caught a total of 14 bass. I will be buying more of these FLW'S .... SteveL
  24. I agree with everyone here. I also use Rapala's a lot and love them ... i like the baby bass color you just can not go wrong with baby bass. Crawfish is also another MUST. I also like Bandit's either the 200's or 300 series. Best of luck to ya SteveL
  25. Im assuming your talking about JSR-5 and 7's I use both and i fish both many different ways. I have used them on top and have had some success. During the warmer months ill use them as intended and dive them to the depth wanted and the bass will kill them.. I ussually use baby bass color also btw anyway best of luck SteveL
