Ok, so I caught a nice one 6.21lbs and and wanted to get a quick vid of the bass to screenshot pics. Did all that, weighed it, probably out of water 2 min while I was looking for my flippin scale buried in my backpack somewhere. I then released the fish and held it there for a sec then pulled it in forward motion for a couple figure 8 motions. It sat there for a sec, looked like it was gonna flip on it’s side, but then I did it again and it kicked a little then swam at a decent speed down, but came back up to the surface about 20 seconds later and literally just cruised barely under the surface of the water at a slow speed for like 75 yards until I couldn’t see it anymore. It was raining hard.

All I’m wondering is how the bass that the plaid shirt guy caught nearly a pound heavier than the one I caught if mine literally looks like it has twice the girth (thickness) and is nearly the same length. Looks almost 1.5x the width in my opinion. It baffles me lol. No disrespect. Just curious.

I’m the one in the under armor shirt. The supposed 8lb 10oz 18 in bass is the other guys lol.

What contributes the most to a bass’ weight? Is it their diet, how they’re built, length obviously..? Am I missing something because I don’t understand why this bass weighs 8’10 and only 18 inches and mine weighs 8’0lbs. Looks half the size. I weighed this one on a really old spring scale (non digital) and under the gill slit but the fish was kind of at an angle when hanging there weighing it. Scale read just under 8lb mark. It may be just me wanting it too be heavier lol but does 8lbs seem right?
