  1. In early July a river around here opens, it’s closed now due to the zander spawn, with some pretty crazy fishing. You can expect massive numbers of 20” to 27” fish, hopefully I remember to take some pictures.
  2. Has anyone else experienced huge problems with fluorocarbon and surgeon’s knot? I use it for my leaders (fly fishing) when creating a loop to connect to the loop of my sink tip. When snagged, the leader (usually non-tapered, 15-20lb test) always breaks at the surgeon’s loop knot. And quite easy too, I’m certainly not pulling 15 or 20lb. To attach my fly I mostly use the rapala knot, in my mind a weaker knot. When using mono it’s always the opposite. I’ve started tying a perfection loop instead for my loop to loop.
  3. Yeah, KanalGratis seems to have gone global, quite fun! Zander and walleye do look a lot like the same fish. I believe that in the UK they call all these zander/walleye-cousins “pike perch”.
  4. Thank you everyone!

  6. Hi! A fly swinging Swede here. Mostly a trout fanatic but when the water gets to warm for trout (yes, that actually happens here now and then) I turn to other species. Mostly perch. But they’re fun enough to fish for, so sometimes I leave the trout alone and focus on river perch. And the occasional zander. I’m lurking around here because next year I will hopefully be able to travel across the pond again. I’ve been to Alabama (and numerous times to the west for trout) for largemouth, but next year will be a combined fishing/music thing. Me and my better half have been wanting to go to Americana Fest in Nashville, we both fly fish so we’ll bring the rods along.
