Hey guys. I have a Lew’s KVD baitcasting reel in the 6.2-1 gear ratio (25 inches per turn) and I really like it for crankbaits, it cast well and I never get bird nest with it. It has a dual brake system which I like too. But I was looking at getting something in the 28 inches per turn range for square bills and I was looking at the Lew’s bb1 (NOT THE BB1 PRO as I’m a lefty). I was wondering how it does with 1.5 square bills. Are they too light for the reel? Will it cast them as far as my KVD reel? Has anyone used both reels and if so, what does each one do better then the other and which is do you prefer for square bills and or other cranks and why? Is the 6.2-1 and 25 inches per turn better for square bills than the 6.4-1 28 inches per turn? On a side note if I didn’t get the bb1 I was considering the Lew’s Tournament MP which has a left hander in a 28 inch per turn retrieve but I have read some bad things about that reel saying the gears can be loud. Thoughts on that reel? Any thoughts or advice I would greatly appreciate as I can’t afford to buy a bunch of reels so I want to make sure I get the right one. Thanks and have a blessed day!
