You must be from the south. I’m from Louisiana so Choupique is my preferred term. I hate to hear that you avoid them. Choupique put up a stronger fight than bass. Their reputation is grimy but unwarranted imo. And they get proper big.

The guards are stiff, but the bass hit so hard that it didn’t pose a problem. I’m a fan as well and I keep hearing they catch everything. Bowfin is on my list. It never crossed my mind to position a weed guard at a 90° angle to work the bottom. Has anyone tried this? I didn’t need this link. Had to pick up some Super Sally’s. Pfffft lol
