  1. It was packaged well and undamaged, in a thick tube with custom inner foam. It was from a third party seller so it did not go through Amazon shipping centers This was from a dealer from what I understand, I get the whole covid stuff but they should still keep Rods in stock for replacements especially since it's not super difficult to find this rod from retailers directly atm. Moving forward though, I will go with a retailer site directly as I feel the Amazon retailer tried to pass the buck on this and without Amazon pressuring them id be out of luck. I'd honestly be very happy with g loomis if there wasn't a 3 month wait time on rod replacements, I get that manf issues happen especially with things as they are but having a loop/guide come off on the second cast is pretty bad for a $700 rod. Does anyone own both of these Rods and care to comment if they price difference is justified for an all around rod between the conquest and the super destroyer It broke on the second cast so no, not that lucky lol
  2. Just an update, bought the conquest and the second to tip loop broke on my second cast with a weightless senko. Seems it was a manf defect when setting the resin that holds the loop in. After some hoops and finding out g loomis can't actually warrenty these for months because they don't stock them and it may cost me $185 anyway if they decide this was somehow a user error, I was able to get a refund. Now I'm wondering if it's even worth buying a replacement or should I just go megabass destroyer
  3. Hey guys, second post here. I posted a bit back about the best rod to pair with my antares dc 21 and the g loomis conquest was recommended. I received it about 2 weeks ago then had my newborn, and just got out to use it. It immediately broke on my second cast, with the second tip loop coming right about of the resin with a Texas rigged weightless senko on it. Not ideal... Anyways, the Amazon seller refused to help me initially, telling me they can't repair Rods and to talk to g loomis. So I called g loomis, and there warrenty guy said it sounds like a defective resin setting and I would need to send it in then an expert would decide if it could be replaced. This inspection takes at least 2 weeks. If they decide it is indeed a defect, a replacement rod would be sent. If they decide its user error or caused, I would need to pay $185 for a replacement rod. But, that all doesn't matter because they don't have any MBR conquests in stock and won't until late August at earliest. And apparently they don't actually repair the Rods, just replace them. He said it would be best to ask the seller to RMA it as defective and have them do the replacement directly or refund me. Luckily, I ordered via Amazon so they were about to get the seller to accept the return and issue a refund. Now I'm just wondering if it's even worth buying a conquest, knowing that if it ever breaks I'm prob 3-6 months out on getting any type of warrenty action and it will prob cost me $185. I'm seriously considering getting a megabass super destroyer now, because that was my second pick and the conquest build quality was trash. Any recommendations or similar experiences?
  4. Thank you, came across the megabass destroyer today while watching some vids on the conquest. I'll Def be getting one soon lol
  5. Took your recommendation and went with g-loom 844C, I'll be doing a lot of boat fishing as well so I hope that's not a huge issue. I also got the antares dc XG, I have the curado XG and I enjoyed how quick the gear ratio was so figured it would be good on the next reel
  6. Ya the guy at bass pro said 10lb was best, I just went with it and it's worked. I'll get a 30lb and test it out now, thank you for the advice on this. What is your main reasoning for 30-40 just so I know the benefits
  7. Cape coral, right in the canal behind my house which connects into the lake. The antares will be used in the lake on our boat, we are buying a fishing pontoon next week for this purpose. But it will be dual purpose, and I will also be using it for salt water fishing occasionally on my father in law's open sea boat to fish the gulf. Salt water compatibility is why I'm going for the antares so the rod should be ideally good for boat fishing in fresh or salt water.
  8. Hey guys, new to fishing in general but addicted now. Just purchased a new home on a freshwater canal in SWFL and decided to get some gear to test out fishing at my local bass pro + amazon after doing some general bass fishing research. $1000+ later, the first reel I got was the shamano curado dc and a bass pro shop 7 foot MHF. Went out fishing with my father in law for the last 3 days and I'm catching 7-15 bass per day, some really big but hard to say how big without my scale(which arrived today). My father in law has a regular spinning combo and he didn't really catch many fish over the last few days maybe 2-3 small ones, which leads me to believe three things, luck is real, the fishing techniques I researched work especially underwater analysis of bait interactions and the reel/rod combo make a big difference. I've been fishing with a variety of biospawn plastics, senkos, etc with a lot of success. Real worms had 0 luck at all. Braided sufix nanobraid 10lb Texas rigged. I really enjoy using a baitcaster and have had virtually no issues with bird nesting even learning fresh on it. Now I want a second reel/rod, I think I'll be getting either the metanium or more likely antares dc. I know they won't be hugely different from the curado but they will last a long time and the internal bearing and such will make for a better combo. Where I'm stuck is what's a good rod to improve my all around technique with good sensitivity and can handle larger bass. Does anyone have any recommendations for the shimano poison adrena or something in that price range?
