  1. I was able to finish the repair by myself. taking off the c-clip was the hardest part. I got it slightly loose and it spun when i tried to put more pressure, even with my fingertip on. I got the c-clip off, but it was covered in grease so it didn't fly out. Damaged the outside parts of the bushing in the main shaft slightly because of how long it took to remove the c-clip but doesn't seem to affect my retrieve. Thank you all for the tips given. I now have my scorpion dc back in commission. ??
  2. Made my decision. Bought the new JDM Bantam. A little bit more than the initial budget but i'm sure this will be a worthwhile investment.
  3. Yea, I dont want to take much risks when buying overseas. I usually stick with digitaka but jls does have the free lure as a gift which is pretty nice. But out of all of them, digitaka seems the most streamlined when purchasing, which is why i like them the most.
  4. Does that factor in shipping too? because i looked into amazon japan and the see that the prices are definitely lower than digitaka but have around $15 shipping fee. I guess it is cheaper, but i have some points (about 700) i could put into the bantam. Plus, digitaka has awesome service and extremely fast shipping.
  5. Im sure there are other deals i can find if i scrounge more. the 22 bantam definitely is a contender for me. But i dont know why the lower gear ratios costs slightly more. i kind of want to maximize my budget but i want a slower gear ratio, hg at most, because getting into those “zombie” trances causes me to reel faster than normal, and a slower gear ratio helps put with that.
  6. Jdm bantam i also want alot, but i dont know if it has brass gearing like the zillion tw hd. bantam also doesnt have a clicking drag. bb1 pro doesnt seem to have brass gears, but its so cheap ($170) and is usdm, helping with service and warranty issues. If the jdm bantam has brass gears, i’ll probably add it onto my “considering” list.
  7. falcon cara 7’4” heavy fast and planning on throwing heavier standard bass lures like t rigs, jigs, spinner/chatterbaits, etc. But for stripers im throwing usually some sort of open faced jighead, 1/2-1oz with 5” fluke/swimbait trailer. Yea, the serviceability on the jdm daiwas is slightly concerning+the al gear but i do want to throw MAX 1oz jigheads with fluke trailers. is the zillion hd aluminum or brass? Also when i looked into the bb1 pros gears, it stated “hard anodized ALUMINUM” gears, which slightly concerns me; but then again i can get it serviced relatively easy because it is usdm.
  8. the thought of drag peeling is taking over me. Looking into the jdm zillions and bb1 pro. i can get a new bb1 pro for $170 (not including tax) and the zillion sv tw for about $230 and the zillion tw hd for $280. Hmm ?
  9. If the handle is an issue for me, There are handle upgrades i can get in the long run such as those monstrous gomexus handles. But the zillion sv tw has been floating around in my head. sv spool should cost me some distance, but it is an sv boost and the casting is so carefree i could just throw it more carelessy.
  10. If all of the reels are fine for these stripers/hybrids of this size, i still am wondering what i should get. Zillion sv tw and hd are extremely nice with clicking drags (which i am a sucker for), curado 150 mgl, bb1 pro, jdm bantam, curado k, and tranx 150/200
  11. A big striper stripping line off a zillion hd or sv tw sounds like a fever dream with the clicking drag ?. I wouldnt mind being a bit undergunned fighting striper, over at Texoma, average size is about 18 inches and biggest ive seen in person was about 32 inches. If any of the zillions have brass gears, that would be a bonus aswell.
  12. tranx is super nice cause i live next to the coast, and calcutta is awesome, but weight is a factor for me. I am kind of asking for alot, wanting a reel thats lightweight but has enough line to handle striper, but bear with me, bb1 has a 200 ish size spool and the jdm zillion tw hd is $280 on digitaka and ticks all my boxes; i just have to save a bit more ? you make a good point, i didnt think the jdm bantam held that much line. i assumed the bantam held as much as the jdm metanium, which was 100m of 12lb. But, i plan on putting some mono backing for my braid, i dont measure how much exactly how much backing i put, but id assume around 5-10 yds before i tie on my braid. I will take into consideration a jdm bantam or a zillion sv tw.
  13. Looked into curado k’s aswell, but the 200 sizes make them a decently amount heavier than the mgl sizes. all of the 200 sizes are around 7.5-8 oz when the mgls and bb1 are around 6.5 oz. Im going to use them for a long time and want to avoid fatigue. The zillion hd is the reel i want the most, but on digitaka its around $280 and my budget is around $200. Ticks all of my boxes. I can honestly just wait a bit for more money but i have a new 7’4” cara without a reel begging to be fished.
  14. If i was going solely for largemouth around my area, I would have picked them up, no hesitation. But because i want to bring them to Texoma for large stripers/hybrids, I dont think the jdm 100 spool sizes will hold enough 30-40 lb braid to bomb out heavy jigs.
  15. Yea, the tw 80 is probably going to get outgunned, but i might bring it just for the kicks. I mainly use it for my general bass fishing, like finesse t rigs, spinnerbaits, and swimbaits. Planning to use it alot in the upcoming spring for the annual white bass run. Those were definitely options i looked into, but their smaller, jdm sizes made me slightly worried because i want to use it for heavier bass fishing and bombing out big jigs for striper. I plan on putting 30-40lb braid and i dont think the jdm sizes will hold enough line for heavier bass fishing.
  16. Alright, as long as it doesnt feel like im holding a swimbait reel i should be fine.
  17. Some flouro are like wire, some are pretty manageable. Had a 300yd spool of berkeley trilene and i hated it. I use the remaining spool as leader line for braid. vanish wasnt as bad of an experience though. I also try to avoid my fg knot from going into my reel, but sometimes i cut a little too long and it happens.
  18. Hmm, don't the 200 sizes also come with bigger handles? All my handles are less than 85mm, and i have bigger than average hands. Im mainly a braid to leader guy cause im too lazy to respool every few months. I hate thick flouro that feels like wire after a few months. But the 150mgls have had a lot of good reviews. But i cant get any insight on the bb1 pro because no one buys them, lol. Wanting to branch out, but from looking at videos the palming seems bigger than typical curados. I have held many curados and am wondering if the bb1 pro is slightly bigger than the curado? Or are they about the same size.
  19. Looking for a more versatile bass reel with a bigger spool for around $200, casting pretty standard stuff such as t rigs, chatterbaits, jigs, etc. But in the winter/early spring, I go on trips to Lake Texoma for stripers, except that I fish from the bank, needing me to make long casts with heavy jigs (3/4-1oz). With all my research, I am torn between a curado mgl 150 and a lews bb1 pro (2021). Both are around 6 oz, centrifugal brakes, and have their own fanbases. Curado is a household name and I am mainly a shimano guy myself, but I would like to branch out. Tried a tatula 80 and was very surprised at how nice it was. Leaning more towards the bb1 pro, because I want to branch out and heard the bb1 has a clicking drag (which is awesome). Also, omnia has them for 20% off with a discount code. If anyone has any of these reels, How do they palm? I plan on bank fishing for long periods of time, and palming is important to me. Thanks.
  20. My parts will come in friday and I will take into account all of yalls tips, thanks guys.
  21. I see, any tips on taking out the c-clip and putting it back on? I heard they’re a real doozy and this will be my first time doing something like this.
  22. The other day, i made a big oopsie and stripped the main drive shaft and possibly the handle nut off my 2021 Scorpion DC. I ordered the parts needed for it and I am ready for the repair coming up. Luckily, Debo’s fishing has a video where he had the same issue as me and I am going to be using that video as a reference for my repair. There is only one problem though, i looked into the schematics of the reel when ordering, and saw two pins and a spring that go through the main drive shaft. Debo’s video had his main shaft either already assembled or it wasn’t present at all. I ordered those parts as well, but I have no idea how to install them onto the main shaft. Attached are the parts in question. If anyone has any idea on how to install them, please let me know, thanks.
