  1. That’s a nice reel. I’m looking at the The Shimano Curado DC. I really like that. That Shimano SLX DC is similar to the Curado DC
  2. No, the rod handles 1oz to 4oz lures. That’s a nice reel. I’m looking at the The Shimano Curado DC. I really like that.
  3. Ok folks need to pair this Veritas Rod with the best Abu or Shimano bait casting reel. Don’t want to spend more than $300. Mainly tossing 1-2 oz lures for large stripers. The rod is more of a musky rod so handling striper shouldn’t be no issue. The rod is an Abu Garcia Veritas MH action 7’9” 1-4 oz lure. Thinking of pairing reel with 25 lb braid and 24” fluorocarbon line. Looking for an Abu or Shimano reel that has super smooth casting and a braking system. Like to stay on the lighter side but it has to fit the perimeters. Any recommendations will be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

  5. I know this is an older post. Not sure is anyone is still following it but figured I would post my 2 cents. Ive never had any issues with my 500 size reel. I fish a Shimano 500 Vanford with a St Croix Ultra Light 7’ Rod and never had an issue. I use 6 lbs braid with 6 lbs of 18” fluorocarbon leader. Ultra Light as it comes and when fishing in open waters I’ve punched plenty of basses ticket. Fish On!
