Help on deciding what rod to get!
So I completely went a different route. I ended up purchasing a Diawa Airdx MHF casting rod and a Lews speed spool LFS reel. I set it up and was practicing in the front yard with it today. That was super simple to set up. I can't wait to get it out on Tuesday. I thought for a first set up this would be a good one to try without breaking the bank. I saw a lot of people saying this rod was a winner for the price. Does anyone have any thoughts on the reel I selected?

There was nothing wrong with it. I was really meaning that I had gotten a faster reel. The one that came on the rod I believe was a 5:2 and the one I upgraded to was a 6:2:1 gear ratio. I lot of videos I have watched were talking about faster gear ratios being better. So I upgraded to a faster gear. Once I get a new rod that reel will be going back onto the presidential rod that it came with.

Help on deciding what rod to get!
So I have looked on the forum and see a lot of recommendations for the St. Croix Mojo Bass and the bass x. I am leaning towards these, both in spinning rods. I have a combo rod/reel that is the Pflueger presidential 6'6 medium. I have already bought a new reel I am using on the Pflueger that is a Shimano Nasci 3000. I am thinking of getting the 7'1 I just can't decide wether to get mh or medium. If I already have a 6'6 rod in medium, would it make more sense to get a MH? As of right now all I am doing is bank fishing. I've been using drop shot, t-rig, shallow and medium diving crank baits and a few jigs. I just bought some chatter baits and spinner baits this evening. I feel that getting another medium rod, I will have two of the same and if I had a little different rods by getting a MH, I could rig them a little different and not have to change and retie to use different lures and stuff. Any suggestion would be appreciated. I could also go with different rods. I would like to stay in the >$120 range for my first true rod. Thanks in advance.

Hello everyone. I am new to fishing. I've been fishing a few months and have caught a handful of largemouth bass. I have caught one smallmouth so far as well. My daughter asked me if we could start fishing and I told her sure. So I started learning about fishing, tying knots and how to tie rigs and retrieve different lures and baits on YouTube. I told my wife a couple of weeks ago I was hooked (no pun intended). I can't stop looking up stuff online and watching videos trying to learn more. I am trying to decide on my second (first) rod that is not a combo. I am fishing a pflueger presidential 6'6 rod at the moment. I have already upgraded my reel to the Shimano Nasci 3000fc spinning reel. I hope I can learn a lot here. Thanks for having me. - New guy from TN
