Hard to tell either crappie or perch shallow and others must’ve followed the blue gill deep.

I’ve been fishing out of the middlesex area for a couple of years and I have been fishing out of a kayak this past year and the fall bite his been difficult for me. People keep telling me to use reaction baits during this time but I feel in the northeast fish are still active in the winter so reaction bait isn’t as good also with the lack of shad in Mass. Any suggestions on what baits work best up here in the fall when the bass aren’t feeding on shad and bluegill have moved out deep? Also will take suggestions for good spots in the area.
