Anytime I ask someone, "how do you fish a dropshot" I get a different answer, technique, or method. Very few I think are wrong, they all have application and that persons works it that way for a reason, so I am curious to how you work the DS. Since I bank fish, and I am very rarely vertical jigging with it, I am a big believer in fish like the falling bait. So Ill cast out, reel in just enough that I have a bow in the line and just wait. After about 3-15sec I will pop the rod up, reel in slack and do it all over again. The point being to allow that bait to slowly sink to the bottom. I also like to mix up my hooks, I really like using a neko hook, and threading my bait on like a plastic swim bait, the weight of the larger hook causes the bait to sink even, and I think that presents better because of the slower sink.

So "money is not as issue" is a bit deceptive and is specific to the Dobyns, I am a veteran and they offer some really stellar discounts for us. So the Xtasy would not be full cost and pretty significantly less than a NRX+

I'm South Jersey, but I do the majority of my fishing on lakes north of me, So Mercer, Assunpink, anything with clearer, less muddy waters that SJ seems to be known for.

So I’m totally new to Dobyns rods, and after hearing so much good things about them, I want to build a C Rig/T-rig/jig set up. It’s primary purpose is for the C rig and covering water, but I like things to have dual purpose. This will mainly be throwing C rigs at 1/4oz-1oz (I fish some deep lakes in NY like Cayuga and summer fishing can be a tough bite) When its not being used for that it will be used to flip jigs/T rig around docks and cover at around 1/4-1/2oz From reading other posts my understanding is Dobyns have interesting actions and tend to have lighter tips, with that all in mind the three rods I am looking at in different price points are Champion 735 Champion Xtreme 745 Xtasy 755 (possibly 754) Anyone have any experience with these rods, money is not an issue here, but I am trying to get the most bang for the buck
