Defective Zillion, Japan Lure Shop No Reply
The tariffs, duty and taxes I'm fine with paying, but it if my package is being held up because UPS directly told me additional information is missing I'm going to hold the JLS responsible. I've been very transparent and communicative to JLS about the situation which I don't think they understand on what to do. I've ordered another international package and it just left the notorious Louisville UPS hub and is being delivered this weekend.

Defective Zillion, Japan Lure Shop No Reply
UPS's / US customs broker told me this morning that the shipper was missing information on the packaging so that's why it was being held up for over a month. Plus I never got an update on UPS saying "Your package has cleared customs and is on the way," (like I did with my other packages from Japan) once it reached the KY hub. So either JLS is missing information, UPS is backed up, or UPS contacted JLS, but JLS didn't see UPS info on sending the missing information within those weeks. So far my experience with JLS is pretty terrible. 3-5 days no email responses, and just letting me know to not worry.

Bringing this thread back from the dead. I a mistake buying from Japan Lure Shop last month after they got rid of the De Minimis in August. My package has been stuck at the UPS hub in KY for over a month and I have contacted JLS over and over again asking if they've received information from UPS to add more detail to the package. JLS have been given me hopeful reassurance it will arrive without answering my questions. It's feels like I'm talking to a bot. If it comes to it and I don't receive the item mid November I'm going to dispute the charge and never order from them again. If anyone sees this do yourself a favor and order from Digitaka or other sites. Email first and ask them your questions because I don't think I'll get my items or anytime soon.

Has anyone ordered a rod from Japan Lure Shop within the past 2-3 weeks? UPS and US customs is holding up my package.
That's about a few days earlier from when I ordered my rod from them. I just got unlucky I guess. I don't think I'll ever see it, and it maybe a lost. How was the packaging of the rod by the way? I'm a little nervous if I do end up receiving it, it'll be mangled and beaten up from the day's it's been stuck there tossed around by their handlers.

It entered through Anchorage, Alaska but was quickly sent over the Louisville, KY. Interesting you said they used Fedex when their website addresses they ship with UPS only. Have you ordered a rod through them?

A $150 tariffs charge for little aluminum screws on the reel probably. I hope my rod doesn't have that charge. From what I've read, UPS acknowledges Aliexpress as an international shipper. So any packages that come in from Aliexpress are bypassed since the taxes and tariffs are already accounted when you made the purchase online.

I wished they shipped my packaged through Fedex. I would have gladly paid the fees and taxes, but at what cost... because I probably could have just ordered an Orochi and called it a day. You bought from JLS and got it in 3 days? What delivery service did that go through? I'm coming up on 2 weeks and already paid $40 on import fees. I've heard others who've ordered (non-related fishing gear) that their packages have been stuck since June.

Whats your go to baits/lures? I'm lost on what to use and do when I can't catch fish.
The shad was my initial thought when I left. Too bad I didn't bring any that day. I'll have to pick up some keitech's and try that spot again.

Has anyone ordered a rod from Japan Lure Shop within the past 2-3 weeks? UPS and US customs is holding up my package.
Like the title states. Has anyone ordered from Japan Lure Shop or any JDM rods from Japan within the past 2-3 weeks and had successful delivery of your packages with UPS? I ordered a rod a few weeks back and so far the package is currently at the Louisville, KY UPS hub and has been nothing but warehouse scans, and from what I've been told US custom now deals with international packages so there's a backlog of packages. I'm counting on JLS to make sure the paper work is done thoroughly since the US has gotten rid of the de minimis and tariffs enacted. So has anyone gotten their rods or other items?

Isn't it even worth buying from Japan if the De minimis for Japan expired on 8/29/2025...
Anyone order anything from Japan after the de minimis and is still waiting for their order?

Whats your go to baits/lures? I'm lost on what to use and do when I can't catch fish.
Lake Sutherland, CA. They weren't casting at anything visible. Just out in the open where the fish were boiling, and jumping. Other boats and kayaks that passed through weren't even catching these fish, and just glanced over and was a little bewildered. That's probably the true. I was probably a good 100ft from where their boat was at, and they were casting in an area I couldn't reach. The fish were boiling and feeding I assumed they were all over that area but maybe that wasn't the case?

Whats your go to baits/lures? I'm lost on what to use and do when I can't catch fish.
I just started bass fishing this summer. Today I was bank fishing and got skunked, and had no clues on what setups to use. Some guys on a boat showed up to that same area I was fishing at and within 10 mins they caught 3-4 fish. I was pretty discouraged. The bank fishermen near me had no luck either so I figured whatever the guys on the boat had was what the fish wanted to eat. For this trip I used soft plastics creature baits, worms, chatterbaits, and swim baits. Nothing was biting, but I did feel a nibbles here and there(maybe I should of tried to hookset?). For reference I have two rods, one setup for finesse presentations, and the other for more action related presentations. Are there baits you guys always try out when going to lakes/ponds? Are there hooks you recommend that can use for all applications? What's your go to setup when you're preparing to fish? I'm lost on what to use and do when things don't work.

Isn't it even worth buying from Japan if the De minimis for Japan expired on 8/29/2025...
I bought a Megabass rod from JLS costing $190 total. The exchange rate wasn't even accurate. Receipt showed $1 | ¥141 when at the time it was $1 | ¥147. For whatever reason JLS exchange rate was off. The same rod that's sold in the US cost $199 (before taxes, plus shipping), but this rod had been on backordered for months because of tariffs, and I'm not even sure if they'll stock the JDM versions will ever come back of it. After UPS fees I paid $226 total. I guess I did good, minus the US Megabass warranty? I'm going in a couple of months. I think I'm going to take advantage of this.

I bought a rod on Japan Lure Shop because domestic shops didn't have the rod I wanted. Plus the prices were far below what the domestic shops here were offering or so I thought. I didn't even realized after I purchased the rod a week after that date the de minimis (goods under $800 to enter country without paying duties or taxes) ended for Japan. I ended up paying around $35+ to UPS for the fees... The rod is currently sitting at UPS to be released, but just wanted to inform those of you who plan to buy JDM.

Purchasing a BFS rod, and overwhelming at selection. Open to considerations.
I needed something with a little more backbone so I decided on the levante F3-67 jdm model medium light*. I bought an ark gravity to pair with the F2-64 but was wondering your thoughts on pairing this with the F3 rod.

Purchasing a BFS rod, and overwhelming at selection. Open to considerations.
I decided on the Megabass Levante. I'm looking to throw baits up to 3/8oz and slightly heavier. The Dobyns will be a future rod purchase since the lifetime warranty is appealing.

Purchasing a BFS rod, and overwhelming at selection. Open to considerations.
My brother got me hooked on bass fishing this summer. Since then I've been looking at some BFS rods, but the selection has been overwhelming. In short I'm looking for rods under 6'7", light power, fast action, line wt 3 - 10 lbs and lure wt 1/16 - 3/8 oz (power finesse?), for bank fishing at ponds or lakes. Baits I mostly use are soft plastics, swimbaits, a light weight crank baits and jigs with a budget of $200 - $300 I'm looking for insights on seasoned angler's on some of these rods, but totally open to other considerations. 1. Dobyns Sierra Ultra Fineese Casting Series 6'5" Light | SUF 650C 2. Megabass Levante 2F-64LV 3. Major Craft DAYS BF DYC-65UL.BF
