  1. well tonight a found a really good deal on a Daiwa! it's the Capricorn 100 XTC it has 8 ball bearings, and i got it on a 6' M/H action Berkley Lightning Rod. should be nice.
  2. anyone here like Culprits 7.5" in the crawdad color?
  3. ok right now i have a Quantum Accurist on a Ugly Stik 6' Med action, love it. i also have a Pflueger Trion GX7 open-face reel. i want to have a seperate BC for crankbaits, topwater, etc, then have my Buzz/Spinning Baits on my GX7 open-face, and then a worm on the other BC. now, i love the Abu Ambassadeur, but im thinking of getting another Quantum Accurist because i love how it works, and it would be better just switching from the same exact setups, that way you don't get too used to one setup. what do you guys reccomend?
  4. worms: culprit lizards: zoom cranks: rapala, xps, pretty much anything buzz/spinner: booyah hooks: gamakatsu
  5. i hooked one yesterday, not in the eye, on a crankbait. well it started jumping around and ended up actually hooking itself in the eye with the other treble hook. i felt kinda bad cuz when i was taking it out of the eye, it kinda flopped a bit in pain. but, it swam away fine.
  6. ok guys what are your favorite type or worms to use? personally, i love the culprit worms in the crawdad color. i also use gamakatsu hooks.

i like the rapala firetiger shallow runner. also the original floater (blue on top and silver on bottom) is pretty good. the only prob w/ crank baits is those darn treble hooks are kinda a pain to get out every now and then. you gotta be careful, or you can end up like me 2 days ago with a hook shoved all the way into your cuticle of your pinky finger..not fun!!
  8. we kept all of the fish except the cudas. of course, we abided by the limit on the fish. i knew i would love the grouper, mahi, and snapper. turns out i love the wahoo, great tasting fish. all we did was grill it with salt n' pepper and a little butter. then i squeezed some lemon over it and MAN is is good!! not too fishy, but the taste of fish is in there a bit. definatly not like grouper when it comes to taste, but in a good way. overall the wahoo is amazing. but i would have to say the mahi is my all time fav.
  9. just found another pic of one of the mahi we caught, it's all lit up too. its on a squid jig thing with ballyhoo on it
  10. ok well my dad has a pfluger PSP-1H (i dont even think the make em anymore) and it's ALRIGHT, i dont really like it that much. like a lot of other people i think their spinning reels are better than their baitcasters. recently, my dad bought a BPS Extreme EX baitcast combo from bass pro, and i think it's a very good rod/reel for the price. the rod and reel were around $60.
  11. WOW ur thumb is like the size of it's mouth haha

well guys here's my report for today, was real slow all day. me and my fishin buddy woke up @ 5:45 was on the lake ~6 AM didn't catch a single thing - not even a bite. we were using culprit crawdad worms (7.5"), buzz bait, and a rapala shallow runner firetiger. usually one of those atleast gets a hit. we went in cuz it was so slow around 9:00. just kinda relaxed a bit, then off to Bass Pro at 11. we were planning on going to my grandma's lake around 2:30 (the bass there are mostly in the 2-4 lb range, but there are some lunkers) so we picked up so 6" culprit worms, and we wanted to try to catfish in that lake, so we got some RAUNCHY smelling dip crap i forget the name of it. when they say it's 'SUPER POTENT' they arent joking! we got a lot of other misc. stuff and went out to grab a bite to eat. then we headed over to my grandma's, ended up gettig there at 1:30 and went out. we set up 2 poles for catfish and wedged them on the dock, then got in my little jon boat and started fishing. i had a crankbait on and i hook up on a little bass (about 1/2 lb) and i get it to the boat grab it by the mouth an the lil sunabit*h jumps from my grasp plunging a nice treble hook into the cutucle of my pinky!! DANGIT it hurt like a B****H!!!!!!! so the barb was in my nail and blood was gushing everywhere. i just figured i'd man up and pull it out pretty hard and quick..well she wasnt planning on leaving anytime soon, SO i slid the hook in deeper and then positioned it so the barb was against where my nail would be and kinda slid it out. it wasn't pleasant let me tell you that. > > > and all of this was for a 1/2 little grunt. now i wold still be ticked if a 12 lb-er did that but less ticked. lol. so i went to clean it out blah blah, and came back down and my buddy wanted to get in the canoe, aos he wnt out said he got 4 bites and lost em all cuz he was using some buzzbait w/ a flexible mounted hook. i caught one more about 3 lbs and that was IT for the day there. last time i was there between the 2 of us we caught 24, 2 of which were bluegill and we missed about 10. well then we come back to the neighborhood lake when my friend lives and went out there and didnt get anything either. i was like whatever it was kinda dissapointing, but that's fishing for ya, nothing's guaranteed, unless you're bill dance, who nets off certain areas for his show.
  13. thanks for all the replies everyone, we had a great time!
  14. I know this is a bass forum and all, but I figured why not post this fishing story so here ya go..... Yesterday me, my dad, and my little brother went deepsea fishing off the coast of St. Augustine, FL aboard the "Knot Tied Down" charter co, and caught 3 coolers full of great FISH! We were leaving the docks at approx 6:00 AM. We started off trolling in 135' of water, ~35 miles out (it isn't normal to troll that close in.) and suddenly this fish just took that Ballyhoo on the deep line and I was wondering how big this thing is. So as I was fighting it, the guide knew immediatly it was a "40-50 lb Wahoo". Well about 7-8 minutes later, my forearms about to fall off, we got it to the boat and MAN it is HUGE!! Turns out it was a lot bigger than 40 lbs weighing in @ 85.8 lbs, 5'10" long and 32" in circumference!!! (YES I'M EVENTUALLY MOUNTING IT!) It is the biggest fish I have ever caught, and probably the biggest Wahoo I'll ever catch in my life..but you never know . Also, we caught 2 Mahi, 4 Kings, a couple cudas >, that big ol wahoo. When we switched to bottom fishing, we got a ton of Vermillion Snapper, a nice Red Snapper, nice Grouper, a bunch of Triggers, and some Amber Jack. Here are some pics..... Strugglin' to hold that monster up! Getting it weighed. The Capt. radioed in and there was a nice crowd gathered around the docks and they had the scale down there (they only bring it down for the big fish). Everyone was taking pictures asking me to stand next to it, I felt like a celebrity! Yes, I know I'm holding it wrong! Oh well.. My dad, me, and my brother **nowhere near the amount of fish we caught** ;D Well, that's my fishing trip story, hope yall enjoyed it. Thanks to Captains Jerry Sr and Jerry Jr on the Knot Tied Down, we had a great time, We will be back. Thanks again -Brad
