  1. Folks, New member to the forum. Fishing over the entire US for the last 50 years, currently reside in Houston TX. Some of you have purchased one or more of my books (thank you). Proud member of several clubs and teams (I'm new so I guess if I mention them I'll get dinged so I won't). Reels and Rods cover the spectrum from regular to stupid expensive, all focusing on Largemouth bass. Been studying them habitats, environment, you name it. Anyway, love to contribute any way I can.
  2. I fish here in southern Texas where the water temp right now is 89%. I always start fishing by 3AM and catch the most until about 1 hour after sunrise. For me, it's always a black or white buzzbait depending on variables. Retrieve is 100% slower. I usually catch 8-10 by sunrise, and always fish shallow as that's where the bass are. Typical spots along bank and grass of course. I've authored many books on bass fishing over the years and my one comment to everyone is "it depends". Is barometer the best judge, maybe. Will the full moon make the bite better, not always. Everything depends on the bass mood. Never be afraid to try everything. What works today might not work tomorrow, what didn't work last month might be the key now. Have fun and define the box, don't fish within it!
