  1. Pm sent. Check your messages.
  2. Finally got the pic from last weekend, nothing special. Went two and a half, avg cookie cutter bass most on here have been catching in Nova, aside from the few that have been slaying em' (Andrew and Soccr). Healthy looking fish though, wish I would of tried throwing cranks, I feel like I would of got em' much better that day. Anyway, back out tommorrow to a spot on the rez and a honey hole pond to see if I can get numbers for once this year. Will let ya'll know.
  3. Steve, Wednesdays I don't have a lot of time in the am. I'd have to be back at the ramp by 11:30. So long as that doesn't inconvenience you I could do it, but I don't wanna make you cross the Potomac half way through the day to drop me off if you want to stay out there longer. Let me know. Dude shoot me a pm and we will work out details boss.
  4. Steve next weekend my dad and I are driving the bass boat down to Charlottesville to fish a lake we found down there. So I won't be around, but I appreciate the invite. I am night next week on Wednesday so I'll be out fishing in the AM from about 8 til 11:30 or so from the bank in one of my usual spots. If you wanna chill hit me up. Other wise lets plan on a day during the week of April 12th. Just give me the best day available for you (except wednesday as I can't get those days off cause they are my night shift) and I'll put in for it. And we can either do the Potomac, Anna or another river/lake in the area. Later bro.
  5. In pm sent. Steve, I was put on a good spot today (from shore) but realized I picked the wrong place when I got there. I thought the winds were suppossed to die down last night... nope. White caps and swells on the frigging lake. CRAZY! Anyway... I'm pretty sure that there was a small craft advisory up today. You need to invest in a weather radio for that boat dude. You can buy em' online, worth the investment. Many a time that thing has saved my dad and I a few long trips with the boat and saved our butts with updates before the Potomac got real bad! Anyway, glad you got your baby back dude. Can't wait to get out with you man. I may... may get out for a couple hours Saturday. Deciding on that or an all day madden session with a buddy of mine on xbox 360, beverages included (we play a coop franchise and are addicted). If we get out it will be a few hours before hand and we will prob hit up a couple of local ponds just to see if this weather gets em' going. Later folks. If any of you are getting out Saturday or plan on just pounding the shore line hit me up and maybe we can hook up.
  6. 30 mph winds this morning and I had no idea. Buddy convinced me that a spot was worth checking out. I have no doubt that on a better day it would have been worth it but today, white caps all over THE LAKE. Are you kidding me? I was getting bowled over. I agree with Dan, wait for a better day. There are plenty of places you can beat from the shore around here. If you're interested I can point you in a couple directions per pm. Just hit me up. Most of the places I fish from the bank (ponds) are in woodbridge/dale city/dumfries/manassas. Later.
  7. No prob. Not gonna get out much more til' next week so I'll prob just be lurking around. Wednesday pond hopping around Woodbridge/Dumfries and next weekend hitting a lake down near Charlottesville with my dad. Tight lines.
  8. Quan, Soccr thanx that's the exact info I was looking for. My dad and I may drop the canoe in here at some point but no date set yet. Definitely gonna prob check out the spots I was catching em' from last year some time soon though before all the shoreline brush gets too bad. Thanks fellas.
  9. Around Bull Run to be specific. Water stain, temps, above pool or normal, etc? Just curious. I fish around shore here a bit (on foot) throughout the year, mostly the bridge and through the woods a bit before the trees and brush start making it tough. Trying to get an idea if even making the attempt any time soon is worth it. I know the Occoquan River doesn't get good until mid to late April but I never fish the rez this early. Is it worth the time?
  10. Beautiful fish, looks like we were on the wrong lake... Crazy how people can throw almost the same thing on very similar cover and structure on two different lakes in relative close proximity on the same day and come up with two different out comes. Sounds like a heck of a day to me. Wish we would of got on em' like that. Every dog has its day though. It certainly wasn't ours. Just gotta rebuild that confidence and get back out. Thats what tommorrow is all about. We will see what happens I guess. Way to go on the big ole monstah! That's a beautiful fish. Does that trump your previous pb? I know it was 7 something if I remember correctly.
  11. Andrew were you guys getting numbers or size on Saturday? What were you guys throwing? I know I probably should have threw some lipless and jerkbaits but with the cover I was fishing and the amount of hangups I was encountering with my jigs and plastics I didn't wanna lose over 40 bucks in baits lol. Maybe if I were fishing another lake. Glad to hear you guys found em'. I'll be back out tommorrow morning on a local lake and then Saturday for a few hours pond hopping with a bud. Hopefully we get on more.
  12. Hey guys, Went out with my dad Sat morning from 9am til 2:30pm. Lost one, caught one. When we got there water temps at launch were 48 - 49 degrees. Couple of guys there stated that it was 55 - 57 last week.. Nice drop in temps. Winds were gusting at like 5mph, no biggie, til about 12 when they started sustaining 15 - 20... whole lake was getting choppy. We stayed out until 2:30 and beared it. My dad got a couple bites too, one on an Ananconda Worm and another ona jig. My only fish came off a lone standing tree with emerging branches in about 15' of water. I tossed a 3/8 oz Hack Attack jig with Rage Tail Craw trailer (green pumpkin and orange jig, green pumpkin craw). Went 2lbs 6ozs. I lost another nice fish about 20 yards to the right of where I caught my previous pb last year. Bit my Boo Yah Boo jig with Rage Craw trailer (black and blue/matching) as I came over some deep wood and hit as I pulled it over. Sucked it in, felt another tap as it took it in further, reeled in the slack and set the hook but he had dropped it before I got the set... frustrating. Good fish too. So pretty blah day, but when we got out there and saw the conditions (mostly water temps) we knew the bite would be tough. Hitting a local lake tommorrow morning if anyone wants to join me, just throw me a pm. I'll post the pic tonight when I get home, it's on my dads cam. Steve, sorry to hear your boats taking so long. I got your call yesterday but was actually taking care of stuff with the wife and didn't hear it ring. I'll give you holler tonight to catch up. New, I'll check my settings. Hope this report helped. One last thing, with all the rain, the main lake actually stayed pretty clear. Visibility by launch and some pockets on the main lake was almost a foot deep. Otherwise slight stain.
  13. Burke doesn't rent during the week until Memorial Day. I think they ARE doing weekends right now, least when I checked last week. If not most places do by April.
  14. We (my dad and I) were gonna hit Briery this weekend but a three hour drive with these conditions isn't really up our alley. We are fishing lake curtis in stafford instead and saving Briery for April, maybe get on some spawners. Good luck if anyone does try it this weekend. One things for sure the pressure on the lake will probably be minimal tommorrow, maybe the only advantage I can see.
  15. Big fruits, Cool man, we will be in a Lowe's 16ft fishing boat... we like to "call" it a bass boat and it's slowly turning into that as my dad upgrades things but for now it gets the job done and is definitely fun to fish from. My name is Jason, so if you see us be sure to holler. Check out this link for more info on the lake: http://www.dgif.virginia.gov/fishing/waterbodies/display.asp?id=40 I found the pic of the one I caught. I caught her right of the launch, after the pier in 12 - 15 ft of water on a lone standing emergent tree. Stanley Swim Jig and Rage Tail Lobster was the bait. Maybe we can help each other out if either one of us is on em'. See ya man.
  16. Anybody hit up Curtis Lake as of yet? Making a trip down here with my dad in the bass boat tommorrow and just trying to get an idea of what shape the lake is in. I know with this front coming through the fish are probably going to have backed off some into the off shore cover/trees towards the main lake channel. Figure we will probably focus most of our efforts on the off shore cover close to or on main lake points near deep water, the cove up by the dam since it has a nice taper to it and a lot of emergent standing timber and probably anywhere where we find a nice tree line in the 12 - 16 foot range. Looks to be pretty sunny tommorrow and I'd imagine the water is gonna be a tad stained if not fairly stained, that being siad I'd imagine they will be holding pretty tight. Last time out here I caught a nice 5lber on a Stanley Swim Jig and Rage Tail Lobster so I'm pretty excited about the possibility of another big fish, know they're in here. Any other advice?
  17. Good stuff man, glad one of us got bit. I guess we were right when we said if they were gonna hit anything it was gonna be that. Let me know what days are good for you the next couple of weeks. I already have Monday off this upcoming week and I'll be headed out with my dad so it may have to wait til' the second week in April, but we will see.
  18. Hey Steve, I had fun meeting up with you though yesterday wasn't the ideal day to fish apparently. Still great chattin and gettin' some casts in. It's down to Briery this weekend with my dad (Saturday). Our big trip for the spring. Been planning it for a while. Will post when I return Saturday night and hopefully I'll have some pics. We will see. I'm swinging for the fences all day. No other way to do it down there.
  19. On my way out. Golf course pond, Pond 1, Pond 2. I pmed a few of the guys I have been talking to over the last few days in case you get a chance to meet me out there. Later.
  20. Well, no body was interested in the Brittle trip (though I got two awesome pms from a couple of long time vets on here with tons of info on how productive the lake can be), so today I will more than likely pond hop. Fishing a new pond I found that is about 8 or 9 miles from my place, looks promising, also probably swing by another local pond with my dad around 2 and inbetween that I am trying to get permission from a local golf course to try out one of their ponds. So anyway looks like pond hopping. If anyone is interested I'm not leaving here til 11, just hit me up and I will pm you with my number and we can make plans. Steve, thanks dude I can't wait to hit Potomac and Anna with you man. Should be good times. Later.
  21. Good stuff man, ANY help helps. Even if it's to eliminate unproductive stuff. My first thought is since this rain isn't terribly cold is to try the run in area on the shallow end of the lake. I was gonna throw spinnerbaits and smaller swim jigs there to start. If that doesn't work I have a underwater point uplake opposite side of the launch I want to try with various baits. Problems gonna be locating it without a depth finder, gonna have to wing that one. If the water is clearer up here I'll probably try some jerkbaits, but aside from that I was thinking lipless cranks, a drop shot rig and possibly some SK Coffee Tubes. Last resort I figure I'll just fish the area where the two sides of the lake come together as there is a nice channel that runs through it about 14 feet deep, I figure this area may possibly bunch some bait if there is a bit of current from the higher than normal water level and post front breeze. If anything else I'll just throw a shakey rig with a pro senko or baby rage craw and see if I can force a bite on the deep 10 ft flats I found south part of the lake (figure the fish have probably backed off some with this weather).
  22. Thanks Rick. Germantown was an option until I called today and they said they aren't doing weekday rentals yet. My dad and I have done decently well there in the past. The crank bite bait there in another week or two should be awesome. Especially the Red Eye Shad. I'll let you know how Brittle goes and if it's worth you goin' next week or not. Any advice on what isn't working per Germantown right now since the lakes are in similar condition? How muddy was the top end of Germantown (opposite the dam) with the run in there? What type of patterns were you working? Just trying to get some ideas as the lakes seem to be in the same time frame right now as far as the temps go.
  23. Yea I know about the pressure and stuff. More so just a lack of options. Don't have a yak and most places don't rent during the week until Memorial Day. So I'm gonna give it a try. I've gone over the map on the vdgif site a few times (depth areas and artificial cover), checked the lake out on google maps and thought about patterns and such that I'm gonna work on. I figure I should be able to get something going. We'll see... If I don't get anyone in on it I'll probably just fish from shore at one of the local lakes as I'm not dropping 70 bucks for a day of fishing, no matter how much I want to be off shore.
  24. Looking to get out tommorrow and trying to find someone who would like to split rental costs for a full day. Places I'm considering are all less than an hour drive from Nova, we could meet up at my place or at the lake. Want to be on the water around 8 and off by 3:45 or 4. Probably Brittle. Was gonna include Germantown but they don't do weekday rentals until memorial Day like most. Orange is closed Tuesday and Wednesdays this month so that option is shot too. Motts is closed til April 1st for rentals. Later.
  25. Hey guys, I'll be hitting a favorite local pond of mine tommorrow morning around 8 and fishing til' about 11:30 or so. If it's not working out I'll be leaving for Fairfax closer to my work and trying out a lake I normally do pretty well with this time of the year. If anyone is interested in tagging along let me know. If so I'll shoot you a pm with my number and we can figure out locations. Later.
