rod repair
Hi all, I have a old graphite rod that was a b-day present from my folks about 12 years ago. The problem I am having with it is that the plastic rod seat/ rod holder, is twisting back and forth around the blank. I have tried to unscrew the butt end to no avail and I am scared too much pressure will break the blank. I am wanting to get it fixed for the sentimental value it has to me. Any suggestions. Thanks Jeremy

what time do you guys get out there?
Great question, it gets me thinking, if you guys are on the water by 5 or so to say. If you start shallow with tops and such at what point do you start moving to deeper water with plastics and cranks. I am asking because I am heading to a new lake ( to me) this Sunday and am seeking as much info as possible. Thanks

searching for fish?
Thanks for the info and the replies. I didn't even think the type of material they were made from would make that much difference. I still have a long way to go I guess. I am using shad, baby bass, and a silver with blue back color. I also have some green pumpkin and shad color senkos in 4' and 5'. A few dark spinners with colorado blades for nights. Other than that I guess I will do some vertical jigging for stripers and some live baiting at nights for cats.

searching for fish?
I am about to take a trip to a large lake that I have little to no knowledge of. Is it ok to take a crank and slow troll over cover, rip raps and such to locate the fish or does trolling a crank do no good. I am going to be using my graph to find the structure. My main plan of attack is to start in 3-4 ft of water early in the morning, then move out to deeper water as the day goes on. The lake is pretty deep with channels being in the 60-80 ft range. Thanks for any advice.

Thanks I just went out and bought some senkos today, I got the 4 inch shad and the 5 inch watermelons. How much time to you give before you move them. Thanks again, sorry if I seem like an idiot, but thats how I feel when it comes to bass

help me
Sorry I didnt add this before. The reason I was asking for help with what rig to choose is because I am new to bass fishing and was wondering with a coastal river which one would work the best.

help me
I am going fishing tomorrow in a coastal river. I told my neighbors kids that I would take them along with me. I want to fish plastics as this is new to me. What type of rigging ( carolina, texas, weightless) does everyone suggest. I would appreciate any last minute help. Hopefully between the three of us we can catch one. Thanks Jeremy

Schooling Bass and One On a Stringer
I know that is done quite a bit off shore fishing for mahi. Get one out of the school hooked and leave him up in the prop wash and throw out some lite lines and you can easily catch half a school that way. That would be cool if it worked the same on a school of bass ;D

coastal bass fishing.
Hi all, I am going to try and catch some bass this coming weekend in the local river. The river dumps into the atlantic about 3 miles from were I live. How much salinity can a bass stand. I know when we get a good rain they will come up almost to the mouth of the creeks connecting to the river. What would be a good approach to try and land one or two with my 4 yo daughter out with me. Thanks Jeremy :-?

Learning to fish on your own
I think I sent you a message on a different saltwater related board. I am just starting to bass fish myself. I have a boat if you want to get out to some lakes and the new river give me a call. Maybe the learning curve will shorten between the both of us. Jeremy

new to bass fishing
First I would like to say that this site is the most informative site I have seen. I have spent the past two weeks reading and trying to absorb as much info as I can. I have a few broad questions I guess. July my family and I are taking a trip to a lake for two weeks of camping, swimming, and most important to me FISHING. I am not new to fishing in general. I grew up fishing salt water and learned most everything I know from others. I went to a local pond and caught a bass on cork n minnow and now I am hooked. The lake we are going to is a man made resevoir (kerr lake /buggs island lake) that is really deep. I have read that during this time of the year to start relativly shallow in the mornings and move deep (deeper ) as the sun rises and back to the shallows in the evening. I have been looking at maps for good contour lines and structure, but I dont understand them things. My main question is what main baits should I stick with. I know a huge lake isn't the best place to learn, but it is what it is I guess. I am thinking I should pick no more that 2-3 lure types and stick with them as not to get confused. I know I would be crazy to expect to catch a hog or real good numbers, I just dont want to get skunked. I have read a lot and feel more informed , but don't understand a lot of the terminology Lastly is it safe to troll a crank bait, or should I just find some drop offs and hand crank it at various speeds. I know I have asked a lot and will understand if this is too much. Also I plan on posting any success that I have. Once again thanks Jeremy
