  1. I have had some good fish caught with the Chartreuse Shad colored Kinami Flash. FIshed both texas style and wacky rigged.
  2. Wow.... I didn't expect such a response to the questions that I had. You all have answered all of my questions and then some!!!! I appreciate all of the help guys.
  3. I am new to Jig fishing. I purchased some jigs in hopes to learn how to properly fish them. I have a couple of questions, When is the proper time to use a jig? How do I work the lure? Are trailers required? and What advantages do they add? Any help or advice would be appreciated.
  4. And another 2 Were caught on white flukes with tails dipped in Chartreuse garlic dye, and the other on a green pumpkin senko.
  5. Bite is back on!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Caught some Nice Fish yesterday
  6. I have been having trouble for the last month as well. Throughout late may and early June I was catching nice bass. Once the drought went into full swing, we havent had much rain. TVA is making power and the lake has been lowering..... This has made for some tough tough fishing. Just finding them is hard enough, then making them bite is a whole other fight. Going out tomorrow evening, hope to nail a few. The water surface temperature is in the low 80's here now, a few weeks back it was in the mid 90's. Ill let you all know what happens tomorrow! Hopefully have some nice pics.
  7. Slump is Over!!!!!! Finally got some Bass in the boat today. I took my younger brother out with me early this morning and we caught 6 Bass total. 5 Largemouth and 1 Spotted. I missed a few other fish getting to anxious....LOL! I had never really paid much attention to the patches on the tongues before this week. I probably have caught spots before but mistaken them for largemouth. Running med-deep Crank baits off of a steep rock face is how most of them were caught. I went to a different part of the lake today, that I normally dont ever go to, because it is so far away. Going back out again in the morning to top off my holiday weekend!!! Thanks again for all of the advice, The senkos worked btw!!!!! Got 1 on a green pumpkinseed off of an underwater ledge. whj812
  8. Ive been going late in the day and fishing until up in the night, or until I get fed up..... Then Ill drop my lights in the water and Crappie fish!! LOL ! I have been doing pretty good, like i said, but since the slump hit....no luck at all. Im trying to learn night fishing, but it seems like a completely different animal. Ive not caught many bass at night. Ill give the early morning a shot this weekend.
  9. I normally hit some of the same structure each time, but it is highly fished. There is usually a tournament each Friday night close to where I fish. I am trying somewhere new this weekend, and hope to have some better luck. We are having cooler nights here bringing the water temp down in the lower 80s, so hopefully some better luck this weekend.
  10. :-[ I am having problems even getting bass to strike now... I have went fishing the past 2 weekends without landing a single bass. I have been using all of the same techniques that worked a few weeks back, without any luck. The lake here is really dropping fast, and the days have been long and hot providing pretty tough conditions. I did however catch 4 bass 2 weeks ago using senkos, but since then nothing..... I am still new to Bass fishing, but know that they do have patterns. Because of the change in lake level and the nights are cooler, have the bass that were there just changed patterns/locations in preparation for fall? Im stumped.....Im fishing again this weekend and am looking for some advice to take with me. Thanks in advance!
  11. Hey and Welcome!!!! I am kinda new too, from the East Tennessee area. I have a non resident KY license, and fish in a little lake called Cannon Creek, just outside of Middlesboro, KY How far is the lake you were talking about from Middlesboro?
  12. They said that the prop that was installed was not properly installed, and that it wasnt even for the motor. The owner of the place apologized and had a prop ordered, and installed for me. The transom elevator works really well. It brings the motor right up to where it needs to be. I took it out the other day. Smoooooth running motor!!!!
  13. I have a jon boat that has been customized with casting decks, seats and such. I am looking for a way to further customize the boat by adding a livewell. What options do I have for adding a livewell to my boat.
  14. Finally got the motor back on Friday. Mounted the Transom elevator on the boat. Took the boat out last evening, man it feels good. The elevator too the transom height to 20.5 inches. The motor performed great, ran it for about 2 miles down the lake, and fished some. Ill post some pics and show off my beast.
  15. Went out last evening to try out my boat with the newer engine. Runs great!!! We fished from around 600-900pm Not long long, cause of work today. Tried some Senko's for the first time. Man they work great. I fished them off of a rocky point in about 15-25 ft water. Fished them weightless. On second cast, dropped it to the bottom, swept the rod tip up and right when it started to fall, I had the first fish, only a 13 incher though. I caught 3 more around the same size later on not far from each other.
  16. On river floating trips I always take a supply of assorted colored rooster tails. I also like floating jerk baits and tube jigs. Good Luck
  17. Largemouth Smallmouth White Bass(stripe) Striper Shoal Bass in Flint River in GA Peacock Bass in Lake Wilson Hawaii And Spots
  18. Wow!!!!! I Love those Triton Machines....Too Sweet!
  19. I took the motor back this morning on the way into work. The rep there was really surprised that I was having issues. He said that he was going to have a tech look at the motor right away. Hopefully I get it back this week or next......they looked pretty backed up. Will post after I find out what is going on.
  20. Thanks everyone. Taking motor back to where I bought it. The guy there said to take it and test it out, and if I find anything wrong take it to them. Ill post what they are able to find.
  21. I am still new to boating. I bought a used 15HP mercury for my modified jon boat. My boat has a 15 inch transom, and I really needed a short shaft engine, but couldnt find one at the right price. I am purchasing a transom elevator for my boat so that the motor can be properly mounted, and will perform right. I mounted the longshaft on today, to test the motor out. The motor runs great throttles up really nice and seems like it would have alot of power for my little boat. BUT when in gear I try and throttle the engine up and it gets to a certain speed and it feels like the motor quits pushing the boat. Sounds like the prop isnt even engaged, and revs really high. Is this normal for a longshaft motor that is mounted on a 15 in transom? Is the drag that is being created by the plate being so low in the water causing this reaction? I guess....another question is. Will I see a decrease in performance due to the transom elevator? The transom is 15 inches and the elevator will take it up another 5 to 20. Im used to my old 18 hp evinrude that ran up the lake at a pretty good rate. I hope this one gets close to that speed.
  22. I was running medium crankbait off of a steep slope and caught some small ones. But Ive had more luck slowly working white pearl super fluke with the tail dipped in spike it garlic chartreuse, around fallen trees on steep banks in about 15-25 feet of water.
  23. I wish I could get a 5+ pounder......... Never caught one that big!!!! Ive caught a few like the one that I got Saturday but none bigger.
  24. Im new here, but no stranger to fishing..... I just got finished with my aluminum bass boat conversion, and took it out Saturday evening. I caught alot of small fish and 1 good sized one in my avatar picture. The big one I got was a little over 18 inches long I dont know how much it weighed, id say somewhere close to 3.5-4 lbs. Well If I ever get a big one Ill post it on here.
