after doing a ton of research and asking a bunch of????? and generaliy being a pain....i just ordered a Dobyns Champion 705 cb glass with a fast tip and topped it off with a Shimano Chronarch reel in 5.5-1....i feel that this was the best choice for a all around cranking set-up and with care should last me along time......thanx to all who responded to my post

congrats, all thats left is to put some bend in that rod.. I think half the fun of this game is buying the goods!

Excellent choice. That rod is perfect for just about everything with a treble hook.
