Ive never fished a C-Rig ever in my life, always wanted to make one but never got around to buying the parts/kit. I saw one of those premade rigs at Walmart for 1.96 similar to the bps ones that are 6 bucks. Any tips/reccs to using one of these? I have rods with braid, mono....I plan to use a mono leader and use lizards and creaturebaits for now. Experts chime in. Thanks

I set up my own using the Carolina keeper which we get at bps... works well for us. Fished the c-rig most of the season last year!

I use 'em all the time and they work great. Especially if you are setting up a C-rig out on the boat with the wind blowing. I usually use the 1/2 oz size.

My C-rig is on a 6.5' Med-Heavy rod spooled with braid and with either a mono or flouro leader depending on the clarity of the water. I like to use a variety of soft plastics but find that if the cover is heavier, something like a sweet beaver works good. In the hot summer, I will go to long worm.

seems to me that it loses the whole effect of the fish not feeling the weight when it picks up the bait since there is no way for the line to pass freely through the weight. and on a hookset you are pulling the whole weight too and not pulling your line through the weight. correct??

Ill try this out more and try making one soon to see the difference on 2 different rods
