Penn Peerles No. 9 And/or Pflueger Trion 66?

Featured Replies

hey everyone... im focusing my collection of reels towards round baitcasters now... and two of them in my sights are an old penn peerless no. 9 reel, and a new pflueger trion 66 round baitcaster...

so i was wondering what you guys think of these two reels, have you used either one? if so, what were your impressions?

For round reels look no further than ABU Ambassadeurs and Calcuttas. The Peerless 9 is a work horse but not very refined. The Pflueger is a Pure Fishing Product as is ABU. That does not necessarily mean thay are the same reel. The Pflueger gets good reviews especially at sale prices.

well.. the no 9 would have just been a rebuild project.. hard to find anything actually made in america anymore.. pflueger i believe is made in korea... well, better than china.. but im already getting an ambassadeur c3, im just looking to expand to a bit more since i really like the round baitcasters

so.. does anyone have any real opinion on either of these?.. and how would they compare to others?... seems the abu garcia is the standard round baitcaster all others are compared to... how would these compare to that with a little work done on them?
