I think I've been using cheap hooks...

Featured Replies

Of course, I thought that as soon as the new Trokar's hit the market. But even 2 bucks each is a small price to pay, next to the revolving trebles offered by one company out West (TurnTech).

How does $8.99 per hook sound? ;)

I've had no problem over the years catching fish with the ones I have. Think I'll just pass on those; unless of course, I get some freebies. (Fat chance of that).

Hope they have a "revolving" credit at that price!

Could I finance a pack of those over 12 months? ;D

Owners offer the best bang for the buck.

If you look around you can find good hooks. Mustads' Ultrapoints are great hooks for less money than some of the others. I think Owners are a good deal too - very sharp and not too expensive in bulk packs.

Gamakatsu's haven't failed me yet. I see no reason to try any other hooks. Especially at that price!!

Owners, Mustad and Gammy's are what I use.

I do like Eagle Claws but the seem to rust.

You can also sharpen the hook points as you fish or before you go out to make sure the tips are razor sharp.

Hooks should be relative inexpensive.

Invest your funds in good moving baits, high quality line, powerful rods and name brand reels.  ;)

I've used Owner St-36's (great hooks), Daitchi's, and Gammies. I swear the gammy bronze hooks are the sharpest on the planet. Gamakatsu (and others) coat their hooks in red or black nickel after they are sharpened. This only affects the point somewhat, but the bronze hooks are not coated and have a raw chemically sharpened point. If you are a gammy user...order the bronze next time just for kicks....I think you will be surprised.
