Hello all,

I've searched the forums but haven't found much on these rods. I'd like to have a rod designed more specifically for drop shotting then what I have now but don't want to spend too much.

Has anyone actually used one of them? Are they acceptable as one? I would like to be able to also use it for vertical fishing walleyes in some lakes where it gets to be a lot like drop shotting for bass, let the fish grab and load the rod a bit before setting the hook.

My local china mart store doesn't have them on hand so I haven't been able to actual hold one. I'd like to hear from someone who has fished with one, or even held one, before I order one.

I have one of the Crank bait rods, you won't be disappointed.

Dick's has them in stock now, so if you want to get a feel for them perhaps there's one close to you

Thanks Hi Salenity, the crankbait rod was another one I was wondering about. Nice to know that they are making less expensive rods that are worth having.

Tom, I wish there was a Dick's close by. I'm stuck with pretty much two places nearby. Cabelas isn't too far but far enough I don't get there more then once or twice a year.

The crankbait rods are Awesome....for a $60 rod.

i have the DS rod. Was really surprised at how sensitive it is, i use it for shakey heads some too. the action is a little light, don't know about using for big walleye. it handles bass nicely, i would definitely buy another.

If the rod can handle bass fine then the walleyes I catch won't be any problem. They can be a little hard to hook at times but they don't fight like bass.

This is a common problem with some of the entry-level St. Croix rods as well. It's a simple problem to fix, though. Unscrew the reel seat all the way and then put a couple layers of teflon thread tape (the stuff for plumbing) on the threads before mounting your reel. It'll keep the seat from coming loose, but won't leave any residue on the rod if you decide to remove it.
