Frog/alabama Rig, Veritas

Featured Replies

I would like to get a veritas rod that i could use as a frog and alabama rig rod. Wich one do you guys think will do

I have the 7' heavy xfast that I'm gonna try this on tomorrow. Maybe Guntersville will give me a good test......

This entire season I have thrown the A-rig on my 7 ft h verdict rod. I know you asked about vertias but there isn't a hugh difference IMO between the two. It has done the job but you would probably be happier with a longer rod. I have a 7'6" rod that I'm going to try out this weekend but it's a MH instead of the H. I haven't used it prior because it's a physically heavier rod than my verdict and when tossing the a-rig around all day it's gets to be a workout.

I agree with the longer rod for the A-rig. You'd be fine if you were throwing a 3 arm rig mostly, but with 5 arms, that can wind up with a lot of weight. With a longer rod you'd be able to load it up and make longer casts. On the flip side, I like a shorter rod for Froggin (7' Heavy), it allows me to roll cost, skip, and get into tighter places. Both sizes could be used for either... I think you would be better off figuring out which one you would fish more and getting a rod suited for that. 7'6 Heavy would accomodate both set ups well.
