Jig Spoon, Watching For Line Twitch, Mono/fluor/braid ?

Featured Replies

whats better?

Im thinking a higher quality little stiffer fluorocarbon would be best?

for vertical jigging a spoon deep, watching for twitches on the downfall.

mono or copoly work just fine for me. Your rod is the more important part of the equation. I would not use braid though- I would prefer a bit of stretch with a spoon, really anything with a treble.

I'm a line watcher. I also use FC at times.

anything under 30 ft i like 20-30 lb mono, over that about a 15 ft mono leader on braid. We pinhook stripers like this, and its a matter of getting a good cadence, they'll hook themselves. like someone mentioned above the rod is the ticket, I like a 7' or 7'6" MH (on the heavy side) not too fast.
