Treble hooks

Featured Replies

I was cranking yesterday and i had the store trebles on my crank when i hooked something on the back cast and the whole treble broke and tips for replacing these and what brands to use? thanks

The Lord knows I love a well-constructed run-on sentence! ;D

What did you hook on the backcast that caused your whole treble to break??

To replace that hook, you'll want to invest about $5-7 in a pair of splitring pliers. Use whatever brand of aftermarket hooks that suit your fancy.

I like the mustad Triple Grips for most applications.

I don't use splitring pliers usually.  I just use a fingernail to open the ring enough to get the eye of the hook started.  Then, while the old hook is wedged there holding the ring open,  I just put the new one hook on and use it to force the old one off of the split ring.

if you want the best trebles , get OWNER ST-41's ( they have the cutting points ) ............  :)

This is how I do it too.  Not the most comfortable way, but it works since I've been too cheap to get a pair of the pliers. ;D
