Snapped A Shimano Crucial Rod-Any Warranty?

Snapped a Shimano Crucial Rod-Any Warranty? What is there service like?

Crucials have a lifetime warranty, and some retailers will swap them out over the counter but they are not obligated to do so. I would contact Shimano and see what they have to say...

They will tell you to send it in or take to a dealer who participates in the over the counter warranty exchange. I recently broke one and took it to a dealer who swapped it out for a $20 fee.

Some retailers (like the Atlanta BPS) will only do an over the counter swap if the rod is less than a year old. Any older than that, and they'll tell you to deal with Shimano directly.

Wow, all of that sounds like a lot more of a headache than anything I have had to deal with. In my area, you just take it to a shimano dealer, and they hand you a brand new rod, no questions asked. Of course, you give them the broke rod, but definately no fee or anything.

The only Shimano rod I ever broke cost me $10 shipping from my local tackle shop so they could send it back. Bets warranty in the business as far as I'm concerned.

Broke a heavy action last year befor the new models came out. I opted to send mine to CA for replacement with no hassels. took some time because they were switching upgrading the line. They did tick me off when they sent back a 7'2" MH instead of a 7'2" H. Be specific what you want. I have been through the fees charged by some to replace over the counter. If you can produce the reciept they should not but it will cost you 20.00 bucks to ship it to CA. Oh well! I like my crucials almost as much as I like my Powells.

Sent a total of 3 Shimano rods (two from me and one from a friend) directly to Shimano and received three new ones.

No problem.

Only cost was the postage via UPS.

Depending on the weight of the tube, it could cost you a little or a lot to mail the rod to Shimano.
