I found this underwater ridge in my favorite lake. It is about 200 yards long with the top of the ridge varying from 5 to 10 feet deep. That top is about 20 yards wide. On one end the ridge drops sharply into 30 feet with a creek at the bottom there. The other side of the creek comes up into 25 feet and flattens out into a timbered area. Both sides of the ridge slope gradually into 25 feet. The end opposite the creek slopes gradually into a 15 foot timbered area. I have not noticed any vegetation. There are maybe a dozen scattered stumps on top of the hump in 5 to 10 of water. How would you approach this area?

If you know all of that I don't see why you wouldn't be able to just fish it and see what works and what doesn't....Knowing that information to me is the biggest key....

I guess I am trying to see if there is a best approach to using sonar on this ridge. Should I start on the dropoff end and graph it for baitfish? Is the top too shallow to graph and see fish? If the fish are on top of the ridge are they most likely feeding? Are the suspended fish I saw at 13 feet over the 30' creek catchable? My thought process right now is 1) Graph the creek and if the fish are on bottom try a c rig on them 2) If they are suspended move on top of the ridge and fan cast a crankbait on top for the length of the ridge 3) If i catch a fish on top of ridge study that spot for any irregularities and refish that area thoroughly

Bait fish is king best bet is no bait no bass. Thats just my opinion. I dont fish anything with out bait fish present unless its grass early in the year and my graph won't show crayfish so i'll fish some without. But I'd graph it find the bait and fish.

Could be that no bait fish wil show up on sonar. Maybe the forage is crawdads or wigglers. I'd give it a go fishing from deep to shallow and then from shallow to deep.
