Don't know what you want to spend, but St Croix's MH powered spinning rods are pretty stout, and would fish frogs in all but the thickest slop if you want to stay with spinning gear.

2nd that. 6'6" St croix premier MH/F is my spinning frog ros.

My recommendation is something long. Something at least 7' preferably 7'6". A longer rod will better allow you to take up line on a hookset and get better penetration, especially on long casts. Oh and at Medium heavy or heavy power.

Smart choice. You'll probably be much happier in the long run.

For serious frogging , a high-speed batcaster reel [7.0/1] rigged with 65 pound braid is the way to go.

I use either 7'4" Frog Rods, or 7'6" Frog rods.

You seriously want a HEAVY action for the really heavy slop.

I am new to it, too ... [been frogging since 1969, and a Snag Proof color is named after me].

Har, har, har !!
