Wanting to see peoples views.  Have a 3 yr old  that wants to go fishing with me.  Was looking at these for replacements for crankbait trebles.  Plus I CnR most of the time.

I have always used barbed hooks. I tried to go without them one time and had about a 6 pounder spit out the hook at me after a short 10 second or so fight. Haven't been able to try barbless since that day.

Never had an issue going barbless.  If I'm fishing with my son (he's 4) then all hooks get the barbs crimped.  Easier on the fish, easier to remove the hook and release the fish, etc.  Haven't noticed any drawbacks.

I'd rather take a chance losing a fish than having him get hooked past a barb.  I don't even see how it's a question.

If the fish can jump use barbed if it cant use barbless

It would be a good idea to go with barless hooks when you are taking your three year old fishing.

ya was planning on pushing the barbs down on the lures or hooks that he used.  I was just looking into getting the barbless ones when I next change out the ones on my cranks.  If anyone has done this and notices a difference at all.

The only hooks I leave the barbs on anymore are my drop shot hooks. All others have the barbs crimped down. Have I a lost fish or two? Sure. Not often, but so what? If it's THAT important for you to land every fish you catch, you probably need to take up golf instead of fishing! ;D

I fish for the experience of being in the outdoors. A lost fish or two means nothing to me. Of course, I'm an old fart, so what do I know?

BTW....it might not be a bad idea to crimp down those barbs for safety sake as well. Especially with a youngin' starting out.
