Best Of The Year

Hi guys. I haven't been posting much since our move to Kansas, mostly because compared to Florida it is a fishless wasteland. Thankfully, the next two weeks find me in Lake Placid, Florida, where I can actually find largemouth bass. The fishing has been a little tough, but yesterday I saw a large fish follow a swimbait all the way to where I was wading. I went back today with her in mind.

Using a 1/2oz Strike King Red Eye Shad, I made a long cast and was yo-yoing the lure when she hit and started peeling line off the reel. I knew the fish was of good size and got a little nervous when I felt her coming topside to breach. She jumped twice, which always scares me when I'm using treble hooks, but thankfully she was well hooked. Regardless, I found myself thinking out loud when I said, "Get the rod down, Jason!" I brought her to me and then realized there was no one else around. This forced me into taking a couple crummy pics, but hopefully you'll enjoy them anyway. I got the hooks out quickly and released her to swim away.

It's good to be home. :)

WTG and nice photos. I've always enjoyed Florida's light colored sands and clear water conditions too!
